The Lucerni party traces its roots to a "resistance" movement against the Venatori led by MagisterMaevaris Tilani during the War against the Elder One. She attempted to introduce a law in the Imperial Senate to curtail Venatori activity in Tevinter, and though her motion died on the senate floor, it did an admirable job of bringing attention to her cause and gaining her the support of a few like-minded magisters.[1] If the Inquisition granted her their aid, Maevaris was also able to beat back some of her fiercer opponents.[2]

By 9:44 Dragon, the Lucerni has become an official, if fledgling, faction within the Magisterium, headed by Maevaris and Dorian–now a magister in his own right following his father's death. It has attracted a dozen minor magisters, whom Dorian describes as passionate against corruption but inept at politics.[3][4]

Though the Venatori declined in strength following Corypheus' defeat, they remain a presence within Tevinter and a main target of the Lucerni. Francesca Invidus proposes an alliance between House Invidus and House Qintara, both members of the Venatori, to fight against Lucerni "persecution."[5] However, the man she believes to be Calix Qintara is in fact a con artist posing as Magister Qintara's son, while Magister Qintara himself has been dead for years and replaced by an impostor. As such, no alliance between their houses materializes.

Luck in the Gardens
In an effort to rally more support for their party, Dorian and Maevaris organize clandestine games of Wicked Grace to trade gossip and talk politics in a nondescript building on the docks of Minrathous with various magisters and wealthy nobles. Participants in their secret card game include Manius, Xanthin, Palletra, and Castillius. Their attempts at winning people over have been slow.
