“Bless your heart, Inquisitor.”
Louis is the husband of Linette.
Background[]
Louis married Linette, the love of his life. When the War of the Lions began, Linette's younger brother, Garde, lied that he would fight for the Empress when he instead intended to flee to Ferelden forever. Louis caught him trying to steal Linette's jewels and accidentally killed him in the confrontation. He never told his wife what had happened, choosing to let her believe that Garde had gone to war. However, Louis felt the lie as a burden. When the Red Templars captured him to serve as a red lyrium miner in the Sahrnia quarry, he wrote a confession letter, convinced that he would not survive his ordeal.
Involvement[]
The Inquisitor can find Louis' confession letter in the Sahrnia quarry and save his life. If they tell him that they've found his letter, he repeats that Garde would have stolen everything from them and that it was an accident. He also begs them not to tell Linette the truth and let her believe that he was killed in the war.
The Inquisitor can reply that Linette deserves to know the truth about her brother's fate. If Linette is told the truth, she is initially disbelieving, then greatly saddened. Louis bitterly tells the Inquisitor that they had a chance to start over and that they could have been happy.
The Inquisitor can also choose to give Louis his confession letter back, telling him to do with it as he wishes. Louis thanks them profusely.
