Lives Spared is a side quest in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. A few wardens have gone missing in the wetlands and the team decides to try and find them.
Acquisition[]
Speaking to Warden Greta after she gets a quest indicator begins the quest. This appears after concluding Something Wrong. Finding any of the notes listed below in the walkthrough also triggers the quest.
Walkthrough[]
A group of Wardens disappeared from Lavendel. Where have they gone?
Search for the missing Grey Wardens[]
Find the three notes scattered around Lavendel to gather clues:
- Across the bridge from Greta, on a bed between two tents.
- In the shed next to Andreas the merchant, close to the Lavendel fast travel beacon closest to Greta.
- On a bed next to the a group of wardens just down the stairs from Grey Hold.
Together they reveal a group of renegade Wardens planning a secret rendezvous to avenge Weisshaupt without the order's knowledge. Head towards the location to hopefully intersect them before they get themselves killed.
Go to the Blighted Grove and find Warden Ivon dying on the ground next to the cliff face. With his last breath he mumbles about how beautiful the tree is. Investigate his remains to find a map to the other's location.
To reach it, a path blocked with blight must first be cleared out, next to the Swamp Road beacon. Use Davrin's ability to do so. Through the opening is the Lost Village, an area smothered in blight. Clear out the blight bulbs marked on the map to unseal a path towards the water, allowing access to one or more survivors who were trapped behind it. The resolution to this quest here varies depending on if Mayor Julius was sent to the Wardens during Shadows Crossing as he will have been present to save a few Wardens. If Julius is not present then Warden Beckett will be the lone survivor. Speak to him to conclude the quest.

Completing the quest yields:
- 50 Grey Warden Strength
- Bond increase with active companions
- Recruit's Simple Tunic (In a chest right next to Warden Beckett)
Results[]
Several Grey Wardens vanished from Lavendel without a word - and no one has seen them since. Anything can happen out in the Wetlands, even to a Warden. They may need another friend at their side.
Wanting to prove themselves again after the fall of Weisshaupt, a group of Wardens traveled to the Lost Village to fight darkspawn alone. Overwhelmed in battle, only Warden Beckett survived. After being freed from behind a blight barrier, Warden Beckett returned to Lavendel for a time, grateful to be alive but shaken by what occurred.

- If Mayor Julius was spared in D'Meta's Crossing during Shadows Crossing he can be found at the end of this quest, having saved some lives in his new role as Warden Julius.
