*After Leliana is done singing, there will be no chance through dialogue nor persuasion to listen to it again. If you want to hear it more than once, save before talking to her.

Upon returning to the Party Camp when The Warden has completed the Nature of the Beast quest, Leliana will start a conversation with you. She will explain how she feels about the presence of death all around and will refer to an Elven ballad sung at her mother's funeral.

Lyrics

Audiofile "In Uthenera"
Leliana sings this at camp after the Nature of the Beast quest.
Main article: Codex Entry: In Uthenera

If The Warden successfully persuades Lanaya at the Brecilian Outskirts to open her 'secret' chest or if your attempt to break into the chest is successful, you'll find a Codex entry called "In Uthenera", the lyrics within are those sung by Leliana, hence, the song would be called "In Uthenera".

The elven version:

hahren na melana sahlin
emma ir abelas
souver'inan isala hamin
vhenan him dor'felas
in uthenera na revas

vir sulahn'nehn
vir dirthera
vir samahl la numin
vir 'lath sa'vunin'

The translation, from the Codex:

elder your time is come
now I am filled with sorrow
weary eyes need resting
heart has become grey and slow
in waking sleep is freedom

we sing, rejoice
we tell the tales
we laugh and cry
we love one more day

Trivia

  • Leliana's Song was composed by award-winning composer Inon Zur.
  • The song is mispelled in the Official Soundtrack as "Lelianna's Song" while Leliana is written with one single n.
  • It's odd that the Dragon Age: Origins main theme is—unofficially—called "In Uthenera" while it doesn't have any link to the codex entry nor Leliana's song.
  • Singer-songwriter and vocalist Aubrey Ashburn provided the vocals for Leliana's Song.
  • Leliana's voice in-game is a light, gentle and 'girly' voice whereas Ashburn's voice is more soprano-oriented and more pronounced.
  • Part of this song plays at the end of the Dalish Elf Origin as the Warden says farewell to the clan.
