Legacy is a story-driven downloadable content for Dragon Age II. It can be played at any moment after reaching Kirkwall, and takes place before the events of the end game, although it can be played after the campaign. It is a good opportunity for Hawke to gain experience, gold, and equipment, all of which are dependent on Hawke's level when playing through legacy. The stats of the equipment will be higher at higher levels, but it will likely be more useful if obtained early on in the main story. Hawke and the party will travel to the Vimmark Mountains. The content of the DLC was released on the 26th of July and was revealed at the San Diego Comic Con.[1] It costs US$9.99 for PS3, 800 BioWare Points for PC and Mac, or 800 Microsoft Points for Xbox 360.[2]
Plot
“Targeted by a vicious criminal cartel that is hunting "the blood of the Hawke," you must put an end to its relentless attacks. Leave Kirkwall, and journey to an ancient Grey Warden prison in order to find the source of the aggression and uncover the harsh truth about the Hawke lineage. Playable from any point in the DAII campaign, face all new darkspawn, forge a powerful new weapon and come face to face with an ancient horror.”

Notes
- It's highly recommended to take Varric, Anders and Bethany/Carver with you, as they provide a lot of interesting dialogue.
- Bring a rogue with 30+ cunning in the party, as there are a lot of locks/traps to disarm. (Varric fulfils this role quite nicely, since you should already be bringing him with you for the information he provides.)
- In order to get the achievement 'Family Outing' one of Hawke's siblings must be taken along for this DLC.
- If u take bethany/carver down into the deeproads without anders in year 1 of your time in kirkwall they will die and i will not be able to get the family outing achivement.
- Known issues. Invincibility glitch where Corypheus does not die. Also, sometimes he does not attack after being hammered down to less than 25% health. Which means you just walk around him forever.
