Lay Rest the Eastern Ramparts is a side quest in Dragon Age: Inquisition.
Pits are piled with bodies, attracting spirits and causing undead to rise. To make matters worse, the pits are protected by magical barriers, preventing anyone from reaching the dead to burn the remains. Once all the bodies are burned, a signaling horn will alert Gaspard's troops that the undead threat to the ramparts has been dealt with.
Acquisition[]
Once Another Side, Another Story has been completed, Marshal Proulx will request that the Inquisitor investigate the Eastern Ramparts which have been seized by armed deserters calling themselves Freemen of the Dales.
Walkthrough[]
- Set Fire to the Body Pit
- Blow the Signaling Horn
The Eastern Ramparts must be liberated and returned to the control of the Orlesian Imperial Army. A large group of Freemen soldiers are guarding the eastern ramparts. The Freemen here will be significantly higher leveled than other Freemen groups encountered.
The Freemen Infiltrators (Rogue - Assassin) should be the priority targets as their twin fangs can kill a party member almost instantly.
The entrance farther away from Fort Revasan is less heavily guarded and offers a wider field of confrontation. Distance attacks with knock back can knock the Freemen Snipers off the balcony for significant damage and bring them into attack range quickly. A Freemen Captain guards the narrow entrance on the Fort Revasan side entrance (Weapon and Shield) which can form a difficult choke point to get through. Inside, seek out the doorway in the center of the ramparts to access the quarter with the body pits and the senior Freemen agents.
Only one body pit must be burned on the eastern ramparts however it is guarded by a senior Freemen; Gordian an Ice element Spellbinder Mage. Gordian is protected by a Freemen Sniper, Captain and Veteran (Warrior).
Gordian is a level 12 boss with considerable defense and armor, so eliminating the other Freemen soldiers first and then concentrating on Gordian is suggested. Gordian will frequently use the spellbinder version of Fade Step to move around the battlefield, and will use Ice Mine frequently. He will also use Barrier to protect the other Freemen as long as they live. A Templar Inquisitor or Cassandra with Spell Purge is highly effective here at removing both of the barriers and mines.
Afterwards, use elemental damage to destroy the barrier and torch the body pit, then blow the signaling horn nearby.
Rewards[]
Completing the quest yields:
- 512 XP
- Influence 200
- Power 2
Result[]
- The Freemen of the Dales' senior leadership on the Plains is wiped out and the Eastern Ramparts are retaken.
Notes[]
- With the Eastern Ramparts clear, it is now possible to access the watch towers on the ramparts which contain:
- Alvarado's Bathtub Boot Screech
- Chantry Banner
- Codex entry: Legend of the Three Sisters: Book 3
