Duke Laurent de Ghislain is the son of Duke Bastien. He becomes the head of the de Ghislain family and Council of Heralds after his father's death.
Background[]
Laurent is the son of Duke Bastien and his wife Nicoline. His older sister Calienne was the wife of Grand Duke Gaspard de Chalons.
Involvement[]
Vivienne invites Laurent and his aunt Grand Cleric Marcelline to visit Skyhold after Duke Bastien's death as a way to further the Inquisition's power. At their request, Vivienne also introduces them to the the Inquisitor. Laurent tells the Inquisitor that it is an honor to meet them. Marcelline thanks them for trying to save Bastien's life. Laurent says that the Maker called his father to his side and that it was valiant of the Inquisitor to champion him during his last moments. After their conversation with the Inquisitor they go to the chapel while Vivienne discusses some additional matters with the Inquisitor. Vivienne informs the Inquisitor that they have made a good impression on Marcelline and the Duke, strengthening her connections to both the highest levels of the Chantry and the Council of Heralds.
During the war table operation Dance with the Dowager: The Courante, Josephine can contact the Duke in regards to the disputed region of Ylenn. He along with the other Council of Heralds members declare that the Ylenn Basin will become part of the Inquisition and that all revenues and oaths from those lands should be tendered thus as to a titled lord until such time as the Inquisition is dissolved or the holdings lawfully granted elsewhere.
