The Kirkwall Chantry is a location in Dragon Age II. It is the seat of the Chantry in Kirkwall.
Background
Kirkwall's chantry towers above the opulant estates of Hightown, rivalled only by the Viscount's Keep. It serves as a symbol as much as it does a place of worship, a symbol of the Chantry's extraordinary importance in the tradition and the life of Kirkwall's citizen, and it's iron grip on the mages.
Built following the collapse of Tevinter influence in Kirkwall as a result of the slave rebellion, the construction was completed primarily by the Orlesian Empire during their reign in the region following their expansion into northern Thedas.
Involvement
The chantry is home to Grand Cleric Elthina, the voice of the Divine in Kirkwall. It also houses the dispossessed Prince of Starkhaven, Sebastian Vael.
Sister Petrice kidnaps Saemus and executed him in the Kirkwall Chantry in an attempt to pin his death on the Qunari.
Later, the chantry is destroyed, along with all within it, by Anders in an attempt to ignite a full-scale final war between mages and templars. Meredith Stannard invokes the Right of Annulment in retaliation for the obliteration of the Chantry and the death of the Grand Cleric.

Notes
- In Act 2, if Aveline is in the party and spoken to while in the Chantry, she will sometimes remark "I'm uncomfortable around Chantry sisters. All because of that red-haired trickster in Lothering." This is a reference to Leliana from Dragon Age: Origins.
- In Act 1 Bethany claims that she misses Sister Leliana's story telling.
