John Epler

John Epler at Pax West 2016

John Epler is the current Narrative Director for the Dragon Age series.[1] He joined Bioware in 2007 as a Term Tester on Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood and later Dragon Age: Origins. He was a cinematic designer on Dragon Age: Origins DLC, as well as Dragon Age 2 and its DLC. He was Lead Cinematic Designer on Dragon Age: Inquisition.[2]

Dragon Age: Origins Edit

Epler was a Term Tester on Dragon Age: Origins and a cinematic designer for its DLC.

Dragon Age II Edit

Epler was a cinematic designer on Dragon Age II as well as its DLC.

Dragon Age: Inquisition Edit

Epler was lead cinematic designer on Dragon Age: Inquisition as well as its DLC Jaws of Hakkon and Trespasser.

It was revealed that the Iron Bull was meant to be a race-specific romance due to technical limitations related to him being extremely large and tall. He also originally had dialog that explained why he couldn't romance the Inquisitor. However, the animation team and cinematic designer John Epler were able to fix the issue.[3]

Other Works Edit

Epler contributed two short stories to the anthology Dragon Age: Tevinter Nights: The Horror of Hormak and Half Up Front.
