Isorath was the eldest son of Maerath and unifier of the tribes that eventually became Orlais.
Background
Maferath, married to Andraste but needing an heir, bore children with the concubine Gilivhan.[1] Andraste was unable to provide him with one due to a decades-long illness acquired on the night of her sister Haliserre's death.[2] but since he was a barbarian chieftain, he needed an heir, so he sired three sons with a concubine. Isorath was adopted by Andraste upon Gilivhan's death and as the eldest was charged with the task of uniting the Ciriane tribes into one people.
When Maferath's betrayal came to light, Isorath maintained power by having separated himself from he legacy well enough and was seen as a victim. However, his wife, Jeshavis, was angered by the detrimental effects the upheaval had on their fledgling empire and eventually had him and his direct descendants killed. She then took charge of the united peoples, and her influence was most stonrgly felt on what Orlais became.[3]
