In Entropy's Grasp is the third main quest in Dragon Age: The Veilguard and Bellara Lutare's recruitment mission.

Acquisition[]

This quest is received automatically after completing Shadows of Ancient Arlathan and reaching the Veil Jumpers camp.

Walkthrough[]

The Lighthouse eluvian is currently locked on Arlathan Forest. The Veil Jumpers, an elven group, may be able to help it reach other locations.

Find Bellara Lutare[]

After speaking with the Veil Jumpers, the team finds themselves in a small clearing. Head down the hill to encounter a magical sentinel that activates once the team draws near. After dispatching it, a cutscene ensues where Bellara protects the team from another sentinel that was charging in. Rook and their companion make a brief introduction and inform Bellara that they've been sent to find her by Strife and Irelin due to the release of Elgar'nan and Ghilan'nain. While taken aback, Bellara says the rise of the Elven gods would explain the surge of raw magic in the area and the split in the sky that she saw. She meant to return after observing these events, though she became trapped inside a Veil bubble - which now also holds Rook and their companion as well unless they manage to bring it down. Bellara speculates there must be something powerful at the center of the bubble that is responsible for generating it which, if removed safely, would allow them to escape. Bellara then joins the party.

Help Bellara deactivate the artifact[]

Follow the Forest Path until it opens up to reveal a large temple entrance with a bridge spanning the river. Keeping to the river will lead to the base of the bridge from which you can access a small wooden platform via ladder by the whirlpool anomaly; also accessible from the river in this area is a path up the cliffs to the bridge. Alternatively, crossing the river using the fallen tree will lead up to the start of the bridge to continue into the temple.

Upon stepping onto the bridge, a group of demons will attack. Dispatch them and enter the Elven Temple where you'll find a health pot and a trapped chest before continuing through the closed double doors at the back of the chamber. Follow the Forest Path for a short distance until reaching the Ruins Approach. Pick up the power crystal next to the nearby waterfall and slot it into the socket to spawn a walkable bridge across the river. Once across, Bellara can be used to deactivate the malfunctioning resonance amplifier nearby so the team can continue up the Mountain Pass. Doing so will cause a group of demons to attack the party as the magical energy dissipates. Further up the Mountain Pass will be another health pot and a magical sentinel guarding the entry to the Cliff Wolf Temple.

Once inside the temple, pick up the power crystal from the socket next to the door on the left and place it next to the door on the right. Doing so will cause the doors on the left to close, so collect any valuables you want from that room beforehand. Through the newly opened door lies a chest in the hallway leading to a chamber containing four magical constructs which begin to activate once you try to move past them. Exit the chamber and continue up the mountain path where you'll encounter a group of darkspawn feeding on halla. Defeat them and then deactivate the resonance amplifier in this area before continuing across the small bridge. In the next area, use the available ballista to break through a weak section of wall to reveal a short bridge and then deal with the resulting darkspawn.

Take the bridge to the Abandoned Camp and use Bellara to deactivate the last resonance amplifier - this time resulting in a fight with the magical sentinels surrounding it. Break the health pot just below the platform with the amplifier if need be. Continue up through the Broken Stairway where there is another health pot provided along the way.

The group will encounter a Frenzied Sentinel guarding the entrance to the inner sanctum. Stepping into the area will start the encounter and spawn several demons and darkspawn to deal with while the fight ensues. Loot the chest after surviving the fight and grab the power crystal by the door to the inner sanctum. You'll need to use the power crystal to unlock the other door opposite it with the two blue lights on either side of it. After unlocking the door, head up the stairs, clear the blight boil from the ballista, and break through the opposite wall to reveal a hidden room with the other power crystal needed to unlock the door. Return it and the first power crystal back to their sockets to unlock the door and enter the Floating Archive Temple. Just inside the door to the left is a chest; the pathway right will lead to the last room with a health pot just before it.

Enter the room to begin a short cutscene and collect the artifact responsible for generating the Veil bubble, the Nadas Dirthalen. Before Bellara is able to collect the artifact, an ogre will burst through the wall. There are several health pots available in the room to aid you during the fight. The cutscene will resume once the ogre is defeated and Bellara successfully extracts the artifact resulting in the Veil bubble collapsing. An Archive Spirit introducing itself as the Nadas Dirthalen appears briefly before disappearing due to a damaged crystal. The team collects the artifact before heading back to the Veil Jumper camp to update them on what they've seen.

Wrap up any unfinished business[]

A chance to explore the room is given before speaking with Bellara to head out, during which you can loot the chest near the wall the ogre jumped out from.

The team arrives at the Veil Jumper camp to find it in disarray as many are injured or missing. Some notable missing team members are those that were sent out to evacuate a nearby village, D'Meta's Crossing. Strife is pleased to see Bellara and your team arrive back safely and reports that they've encountered darkspawn popping up all over Arlathan, which matches your group's experience with darkspawn in the temple. They urge you and your companions to travel to D'Meta's Crossing to save any surviving Veil Jumpers and villagers they encounter.

Results[]

Bellara, a Dalish elf with the Veil Jumpers, has found the team in a Veil bubble in Arlathan Forest. To escape the bubble, Bellara will need the team's help to disable an ancient elven artifact… and survive the demons and sentinels that stand in the way.

With the team's help, Bellara disabled the artifact and freed them from the Veil bubble. She also uncovered an ancient repository of elven knowledge, the Nadas Dirthalen. While Bellara intends to unlock its secrets, she has joined the team as they search for the escaped elven gods.
