Illario Dellamorte is a Master Assassin in the Antivan Crows.

Background

Illario is the grandson of Caterina Dellamorte, First Talon of the Antivan Crows. Like his cousin Lucanis, Illario was trained and groomed by Caterina. He feels resentment over the fact that she hasn't stepped down from her position despite her age, and over the rumors that paint Lucanis as her favorite and potential heir to House Dellamorte.[1]

The Wigmaker Job
Lucanis and his cousin Illario accept an anonymous contract on Ambrose Forfex, Tevinter's premiere wigmaker and a Venatori blood mage. With the help of Athima, an elf sent by their mysterious patron, Lucanis and Illario reach Forfex’s party through the roofs and floating aqueduct of Vyrantium.

After Illario steals the keys by seducing Guard Captain Camille Spina, Lucanis heads for Forfex’s workshop, single-handedly killing its eight guards. Illario returns as the last guard falls. They are caught by one of Forfex elven slaves, Effe. Noticing her pitiful state, Lucanis tells her to leave and forget their faces, against Illario's advice. She expresses approval when he tells her that they’re here to kill Forfex. Inside the workshop, Lucanis and Illario find multiple rows of legless slaves chained to the ceiling, their skin spotted with crystalized sores. Forfex is further in, feeding his slaves red lyrium. Despite the risk, Lucanis decides to make Forfex pay instead of simply fulfilling his contract. Illario reluctantly agrees to lead Effe and the other slaves out of the estate while Lucanis exacts his vengeance.

After freeing the slaves, Illario goes to the Nug Queen, a tavern on the docks. Lucanis meets up with him near dawn. He tells Illario that he doesn't want to become First Talon, that death is his calling but becoming First Talon is Illario's. He concedes that Caterina is impossible to refuse, and that he can only prolong her until she sees reason. Illario and Lucanis toast to reason as they prepare to make the long journey home.
