Hurlock grunts are a type of hurlock. They are armed with a sword and a shield.

Hurlock grunts are a weaker version of the "standard" hurlocks and genlocks, they are easier to kill and yield fewer XP. They appear in the battle at the Fort Drakon gates, in the final confrontation with the Archdemon, and on the ground floor of the Tower of Ishal during the Return to Ostagar.
Dragon Age II[]
Hurlock grunts first appear in the Blightlands during the prologue. They are distinguished from the standard hurlock by their large kite shields and increased durability.

Hurlock grunts are the weakest enemies and encountered as the first beatable enemy in the game.
