Acquisition

This quest may be acquired by reading Mistress Selby's Board in the Docks area of Kirkwall, which becomes available after completing The Underground Railroad.

Walkthrough

SerRoderick

Ser Roderick

1. Enter the Hanged Man during the daytime and talk to the templar, Ser Roderick, immediately on your left as you go in, proceeding with the appropriate dialogue options. The templar will leave with the intention of reporting your erroneous claims.

2. Go to the Gallows. Look for the harbormaster's assistant on the right. In the stall behind him is a scroll. Read the scroll and scribble down the templar's name. Take the scroll to the dockworker across the courtyard and speak with him.

3. Head to the Docks. Speak to Mistress Selby for a reward.

Sidenote: The quest text speaks of the possibility of planting evidence in Lowtown. This is a bit misleading. The location for planting evidence is the Hanged Man, which is in Lowtown.

Note

It appears this quest only becomes available if you saved Keran's position with the Templars during Enemies Among Us in Act I. If you did not help Keran you will not miss out on XP, because A Debt in the Family will be available instead.

Result

After turning in the quest with Mistress Selby, if you recheck the book behind her you find a rather entertaining account of what happened to Ser Conrad.

This quest doesn't seem to have an effect on the plot.

Rewards

  • 750 XP
  • 1 Gold

Bugs

  • pcpcps3ps3 After turning the Delivery Order in to the dockworker, a second, identical scroll appears on the ground near the crate where you found the first. The same "dialogue" can be initiated with it, but there is no effect.
    • pcpc The duplicate cannot be removed and will continue to show up as a quest marker on the players minimap.
    • ps3ps3 The duplicate can be removed and no longer shows up as a quest marker on the minimap.

Trivia

  • Ser Conrad Vernhart, the templar whom Hawke is supposed to frame during this quest, is obviously an allusion to the NPC Conrad Verner from Mass Effect 1 and 2.
