Commander Harwen Raleigh is a Commander of the Hard Line.
Background
A displaced noble who lost his lands to the Orlesians, his capable troops, known as The Hard Line, were a formidable asset to the Fereldan cause. Unfortunately, his penchant for rape, torture and other war crimes was not as appreciated by Maric, Ferelden's new king. Thus he was left without lands after the war ended, a brutal man with a deep hatred for Orlais. During the events of Leliana's Song he has found employment with Arl Urien in Denerim.
Involvement
Harwen Raleigh is one of two primary antagonists in the Leliana's Song DLC for Dragon Age: Origins.
He is first introduced as an officer at the Arl of Denerim's fortress who Leliana's mentor Marjolaine has seduced and distracted while Leliana's team is infiltrating the estate to plant some stolen documents. His history is further explored in a trio of codex entries detailing his exploits in the recent war between Orlais and Ferelden. After Marjolaine's betrayal, Leliana learns firsthand just how well-deserved his reputation is. She is at his mercy for a full week before Revered Mother Dorothea assists in her escaping the dungeons, along with many of his other victims. He is then tracked down by Leliana and will either be killed by Leliana or Silas Corthwaite.
Notes
- One of Raleigh's victims freed in Leliana's escape from the Arl's dungeons is an elven woman named Adaia, who is the mother of the warden in the City Elf Origin.
