According to Alamarri legends, Hafter was the first man to be named teyrn. During the second Blight, he united the Alamarri, from which Fereldans descend, to drive back the darkspawn. He was also reputed to be the son of a werewolf. Hafter’s foster-father was Dane, another legendary hero.
Many noble houses in Ferelden claim lineage from Hafter.
