Greagoir's Shield is a heavy shield in Dragon Age: Origins.

Acquisition

This item cannot be acquired via normal means in the game.

Notes

  • Knight-Commander Greagoir is carrying this shield which could be dropped upon his death or acquired through stealing if it were not flagged as equipped to him.

Workarounds

Toolset

Note: The toolset is 507MB in size. Slower internet connections may have trouble downloading it.

How to make Greagoir unequip this shield so it can be stolen:

  1. This requires that you have downloaded the toolset.
  2. Open the toolset and then open the single player module (File > Manage Modules > Single Player). Click the creatures tab. Scroll down until you see, "Broken Circle". Open the folder, find cir200ar_tower_level_1.
  3. Open this folder, and scroll down to cir200cr_greagoir (Knight-Commander Greagoir). Right click this resource, and select "Open Local Copy". When the resource screen opens on the left, scroll down until you find inventory.
  4. Click to open and select Greagoir's Shield you'll notice it is set to "Off-Hand", click on this and set it to "Not Equipped". It will already be flagged for Stealable, and Droppable. Click Ok, and close the inventory screen.
  5. Export without dependent resources (Tools -> Export -> Export without dependent resources).
  6. Close the toolset (saving when prompted) and start up the game, load a save before Broken Circle has been started and travel there to steal your new prize.
Note: In localized versions of the game Greagoir will now be labeled with "Knight-Commander Greagoir". To revert to his localized name, delete the modified creature-file after stealing the shield. The location of the file is shown in the log window of the toolset after exporting.

Third Party Mod

A simpler and quicker way to get this item, is to use an unofficial mod which allows you to add items with your desired material (tier) if you know their item ID. More about this can be found in this page.
