Godwin is a human mage found in the Senior Mage Quarters of the Mage's Tower.

Involvement

This section contains spoilers for:
Dragon Age: Origins.

He first appears during Broken Circle, hiding from the battle in a closet. Immediately after the main fight, he can be seen in the Apprentice Quarters near the children. Depending on your decision at the quest's conclusion, he will either return to the second floor (near his original location), or be unavailable.

Godwin is also part of a lucrative blackmarket in Lyrium, with most of the trade going to Templars who have become hopelessly addicted to the drug during their training.

During Precious Metals, Rogek, in Orzammar's Dust Town, will offer the opportunity to smuggle Lyrium to Godwin (Rogek's contact in the Circle of Magi). During the quest, Godwin will sometimes leave after finishing a conversation. To get him to reappear, take the stairs to another floor and return.

Notes

  • Precious Metals suffers from some bugs; see the main article for further details.
    • You can get the quest from Rogek, yet be unable to complete it; Godwin might not appear depending on how you handle Broken Circle. In this case, go back to Rogek and inform him that Godwin is dead. He will attack and you can kill him to get 20g close the quest.
    • Certain conversation choices will cause Godwin to lock himself in the closet again, preventing further progress.
