There are several different types of gems that you will find throughout the game. They typically appear under the "Other" category in your inventory.
Note that there are also special gems that can be used as gifts. They are easily distinguished with the purple word "gift" when you examine them in the inventory. See the article on Gifts for more info about these special gems.
Gem Types
In the order that the game lists them in your inventory:
High-Range Gems
Mid-Range Gems
Low-Range Gems
Flawless Gems
In Awakening, three new flawless gems can be found.
Uses
- 10 Garnets are required for the Untraceable quest.
- All "mid-range" gems can be donated to the Allied Supply Crates once the Dwarven allies have been confirmed.
- All gems labeled Remarkable are gifts for Shale. (Requires The Stone Prisoner DLC)
- A Flawless Ruby is required for Heart of the Forest in Awakening.
- A Diamond is required for Worked to the Bone in Awakening.
