Who is your most favorite Dragon Age story writter? Mine is Jennifer Hepler for writing dwarven origins with interesting plots, fascinating Legacy dlc, Orzammar had the most interesting side quests from all places in DAO.

Who is your least favorite Dragon Age story writter? Mine is David Gaider for writting his boring comic series and postponding giving me answers I was seeking, his books weren't good to me and quests designed by him were simple an boring.FirstDrellSpectre (talk) 09:13, November 27, 2013 (UTC)

I don't get the hate for any of them. Each of them has written a character or quest I really enjoyed. Morrigan is my favorite character in the series and Gaider wrote her. Mary Kirby wrote Varric, my favorite character in DA2. I'm one of the few people who loves Aveline apparently, Lukas did a great job with her. Meanwhile, it's great to have Patrick Weekes on the DA team as he wrote the only good parts of Mass Effect 3. Isabela is hilarious and Sheryl Chee is responsible for that one.

Long story short, I think they make a great team and I'm looking forward to what DAI has in store.--Wsowen02 (talk) 21:50, December 4, 2013 (UTC)

I also liked Aveline, she was one of my Hawke's best friends and she was very useful on battlefield.FirstDrellSpectre (talk) 22:10, December 4, 2013 (UTC)
I'll admit, I was upset by the turn that the story took in DA2 and for a while I blamed most of it on Gaider. But in all honesty it wasn't a bad plot and the characters were pretty good. (Except for Anders. Whoever is responsible for ruining him should be flogged.) Now in retrospect though, my only complaint is that DA2 seems rushed and I don't think that had much do to with the writers. The characters did have somewhat shallow arcs in development but that could have been because they were pressured to wrap things up more quickly than in the last game. But I'm getting off topic so I'll stop myself before I start on a whole tangent lol. I'll end by saying that, so far, it looks like they learned all the right lessons from DA2 and it looks like DAI is going to be amazing both from a writing stand point and a development stand point. You want Jennifer Hepler to be flogged then, she's responsible for making Anders the way he is in DA2. She's received considerable criticism for that. EzzyD (talk) 06:00, December 6, 2013 (UTC)
Gaider wrote most of Anders in DA2 and Helper just finished him. "David Gaider wrote Anders in Awakening, while Jennifer Hepler took over the role for Dragon Age II. However, David Gaider confirmed[5] that the role Anders plays in the sequel was set by himself prior to anyone writing him." FirstDrellSpectre (talk) 07:18, December 6, 2013 (UTC)
Then my strong desire to flog Gaider is reaffirmed. ArchonSeverusGaiusDraconia (talk) 08:02, December 6, 2013 (UTC)
Well the 'role' that Gaider set could also translate to him saying "ok I'm done with Anders, but for DA2 I'd like him to be this radical rebel mage." Then Helper took and ran with the idea making a bit more of an extremeist and blameing it on Justice. I loved awakening Anders, but the transition to DA2 was unkind and I was able to personally identify why. It's the fact that it was Anders.... The character posistion could have been a completely different mage, but becasue of fan service, Anders had to make a cameo appearance, and forced into a completely out of character personality. So I'd at least say equal blame to Gaider and Helper on Anders. Warden Mage: Ferris (talk) 14:02, December 6, 2013 (UTC)
In early concepts of DA2 instead of Anders it was Velanna.FirstDrellSpectre (talk) 18:37, December 6, 2013 (UTC)
The problem I think with Anders in DA2 is not his personality change but that there was no ramp up to the change. If Act 1 Anders was more like Awakening Anders but over the course of the game we see him get angrier and more desperate about the situation in Kirkwall, I really think that would have been fine. I believe Gaider has said on his tumblr that if he could do it over he would have had Anders' personality change be more gradual.--Wsowen02 (talk) 02:28, December 7, 2013 (UTC)

My favorite writer would have to be the one who came up with the Grey Warden material, I forget the name but I recall there being one significant contributor to that whole part of the universe. As for "least favorite," Gaider leads the pack, not in a ruining the franchise way, but in any case I count my blessings after the ME3 ending. RShepard227 (talk) 04:22, December 7, 2013 (UTC)

On trivia page isn't written, who wrote Grey Wardens. I suspect Gaider wrote most of the Grey Wardens, that can make your most and least favorite writer the same person.FirstDrellSpectre (talk) 07:44, December 7, 2013 (UTC)
Actually I heard Gaider had nothing to do with the Wardens, didn't like them as a plot device, and therefore made as little note of them as possible in DA2 as he dove into mage/templar social justice. RShepard227 (talk) 10:22, December 7, 2013 (UTC)
You're right and Gaider is a terrible writer, he can't imagine anything original. Jennifer Helper can be responsible for writting Grey Wardens because she wrote most of Legacy, which focuses on grey warden, darkspawn and dwarves. FirstDrellSpectre (talk) 12:58, December 7, 2013 (UTC)

If I had to pick a favorite, I couldn't. But I really liked the stuff involving the Qunari in DA2, so kudos to whoever did that. 72.196.14.33 (talk) 22:52, December 7, 2013 (UTC)

What's kudos?FirstDrellSpectre (talk) 07:25, December 8, 2013 (UTC)
"Kudos" is just like "good job" or a way of saying you like something/think it's good. Anyways - I tried searching for who wrote the Qunari stuff, and it seems to have been Mary Kirby Lukas Kristjanson(?). Yeah, I don't know. Mary Kirby apparently wrote Sten in Origins, though, and he's one of my favorites from that game. Lukas Kristjanson wrote Aveline, and I liked her, so I guess I like both of them ...to get back on topic. 72.196.14.33 (talk) 15:36, December 9, 2013 (UTC)
