I noticed that for Origins at least 70% of players I think were human, and its made me wonder, will people play a non-human in DAI? As part of the 70% I'm hoping there will be more non-human players to balance things out a bit, it may sound hypocritical but I do it more as a tradition, my Warden was a mage human, my Hawke had to be human but I made him a mage and I plan to make my inquisitor a human mage.

So are you going to be Elf, Qunari or Beard-champion?--TheRageMage (talk) 10:11, March 23, 2014 (UTC)TheRageMage

i almost always play as a non human makes thestory more interesting u less im playing as a fenale mage t8 carry over through my DA2 playthroughs i usually go for an elf (dalish prefered) i intend on playing as a qunari mage then an elf then a human then a dwarf

I will play a Qunari warrior specialized in dual-wielding two-handed weapons like the Arishok.112.200.34.89 (talk) 10:31, March 23, 2014 (UTC)

I'll try all races, but my 1t inquisitor will be an elven rogue, who desires to be the 4th recognisable great hero to elves after Shartan, Garahel and the elven warden. My 2nd inquisitor will be a qunari warrior.FirstDrellSpectre (talk) 10:34, March 23, 2014 (UTC)

So long as DA:I has replay value then I'll probably play every combination eventually. first play will likely be a non-human though. Rayvio (talk) 12:15, March 23, 2014 (UTC)

First I will play human. Second, a qunari and the third is random.112.200.43.99 (talk) 13:49, March 23, 2014 (UTC)

For me, I tend to play Human characters... in all my RPGs. However Origins did an amazing job to break me of the habit a bit, with the origin stories. I wanted more information on the races of Thedas and what better way to get it then to live their life for a small period of time? for DA:I, like most, I'm really interested to see how the world reacts to a Qunari, So It'll probably be my human first, and the second playthrough to the Qunari... and then knowing me I'll do a third playthrough as a Human again to change some of the decisions I made... then maybe a dwarf? Warden Mage: Ferris (talk) 14:42, March 23, 2014 (UTC)

I usually don't play humans (except when I'm forced to like in DA2). My first play through will be Qunari Mage and second will probably be elf but I will go through all 4 races. Human being the last. The Dread Wolf 15:04, March 23, 2014 (UTC)

I'm worried too many options might be closed to me so I'm going human first, then experimenting with a Qunari mage after, dwarves and elves hold no real appeal for me at this point since they're not really all that new and I generally know what to expect.--KrimzonStriker (talk) 15:39, March 23, 2014 (UTC)

Like FirstDrellSpectre, I'll try all the races. As for my first inquisitor; race and class will depend on what feels right for the story arch.--KCMueller (talk) 16:15, March 23, 2014 (UTC)

That's how I'd like my qunari inquisitor to look like http://www.deviantart.com/art/doodle-qunari-442288504 FirstDrellSpectre (talk) 17:41, March 23, 2014 (UTC)

I was going to start as an elven warrior since elves need some more heroes and humans got to many, dwarves have heroes in Orzammar and just have a hard time seeing the Inquistor being a quanari.--Dalish Arrow (talk) 18:08, March 23, 2014 (UTC)

All of them. I always play at least one member of each available race. Sometimes two, if I want to try both genders. 67.61.234.198 (talk) 19:11, March 23, 2014 (UTC)

Lots of elves and Qunari for first playthough, come on gang, the Dwarves need love too--TheRageMage (talk) 20:21, March 23, 2014 (UTC)TheRageMage

  • they got something like a twentieth of the love in Origins despite all of the culture/lore work sunk into them; hell, even many of the mods didn't bother including 'dwarf versions'. no reason to believe players have become any more curious/tolerant since then. Yeti magi (talk) 03:28, March 26, 2014 (UTC)

I played as a human rogue in Origins, but not because of race but I liked the story. In Inquisition though I will be doing Qunari first. --Clee19892 (talk) 20:47, March 23, 2014 (UTC)

After my Cousland Warden, I'm undecided between a Dalish Inquisitor or a Dwarf one. Leaning Dalish, though. DAWUSS (talk) 20:53, March 23, 2014 (UTC)

I know I will. I going to try all of them. I typically enjoy playing human females and male elves the most but that wont stop me from trying out the kossith female. Μάραυδερ ΟΘʹ FoC cover I can make the Black Sun look like a Swoop Gang. 21:42, March 23, 2014 (UTC)

I plan on starting with a male Human Warrior, playing a bit to get a feel for the game, and then dropping him to start my first serious character. Right now I'm leaning towards a female Qunari Archer (Do we know if archery is rogue only again, or rogue/warrior like in origins?), but I'll probably end up playing at least one of every class/race combo at some point. --CountSilvershroud (talk) 21:44, March 23, 2014 (UTC)

Like a few above, I'll likely play all the races at some point like I did with Origins. I really want to see the amazing new magic effects, but I'll probably do my traditional male warrior quick runthrough, missing a lot of side quests and stuff. Then do serious explorer as a Qunari Mage. And assuming its good for replayabily, elf warrior then maybe dwarf rouge. SenjiBen (talk) 23:18, March 23, 2014 (UTC)

If I play a Beard Champion there better be a damned midget girl to fall in love with him. I refuse to play a dwarf romancing anything other than a dwarf because RACISM. Elves and Humans are cool, though. If there are no Dwarven LIs I'll probably play a celibate dwarf, a Qunari, an Elf, and a Human. Race/Class combos will vary as I see what goes where. Probably going a Qunari Mage, Elven/Dwarven Warrior, Human Rogue. But this all depends on what specializations are available because that DOES play a role in what class I choose. Dabuddah (talk) 03:16, March 24, 2014 (UTC)

like i already said on my other post i intend to explore every facet that this game as to offer me ! but for my first playtrough : a years ago ( befor they put out the information about the fact that we would be able to play a qunari and befor they publish they're last (exellent btw )T.P.B. ( the silent grove, those who speak and until we sleep ) i would've said that i was gonna play as an elf ( i loved my male dalish rogue master-archer rager/bard in D.A.O. ( i'm going to let you guess who he was in love with ) but now and especially after seeing the the chapter in : those who speak in witch isabela is captured and "interrogated" by the tamassran priestess i'm very tempted to play as a female dual-wielding qunari rogue ( probably a stelth master assassin type of character ) as i've heard that the old specialisation will not be backDragonInquisitor (talk) 16:35, March 24, 2014 (UTC)

I'm usually human at the beginning, and try out the others as additional playthroughs are undertaken, but only finish a small percentage of those. I think I have one DAO playthrough to completion as an elf, and none as a Dwarf. That said, the last few Bioware games haven't been as ripe for replaying, so ultimately it may actually depend on that more than anything. Love the fact the option is back though...odd how that is really. The Grey Unknown (talk) 18:14, March 24, 2014 (UTC)

I do hope each race will have some unique skills and personal quests and finishers unavailable to other races, so I could experience something new during replaying. For example a dwarf can have an unique talents of berserker (like charging on enemies like a taran on wheels) and assassin (like digging quickly tunnels to attack enemies from shallow underground) or Dalish mage can have spells enchanters don't teach in circle or a qunari can have ability to throw big rock or quickly crush skulls of normal ranked enemies.FirstDrellSpectre (talk) 18:44, March 24, 2014 (UTC)

I'll play as female Qunari mage, i'll have varric's chest hairs all to myself. MUHAHAHAHAHAHA! Then A female Dwarf rogue that goes for Iron Bull.

Female Qunari mage And Female Elven mage preferably dalish. and may the dread wolf take you all. idk how to post on here anybody wanna leave me a tip lol.

Probably going to flip a coin for on either human or quanari, the quanari have been my favorite race, despite only ever being NPCs, than after I got a good feel of how the story/game plays out, I'll decide on either elf or dwarf for a second play through--69.235.2.55 (talk) 06:05, March 25, 2014 (UTC)

I do at least one playthrough of every race/class, so yes, I certainly will play non-humans and found most of the non-human origins in DAO very interesting. That said, I did tend to gravitate towards a male human mage character and think of it as my "main", simply because it's what suits my style of roleplay and combat the best. --UrLeingod (talk) 18:03, March 25, 2014 (UTC)

I've never really held much interest in an Andrastian human protagonist. The Dwarven Origin was a lot of fun, but my favorite was the elven mage in Origins; the options to chose where your Surana protagonist was from, how he viewed his background, what he thought about the Circe, which fraternity he identified with - it was a lot of fun to have options to shape who your character was, instead of being told who you were playing as. In contrast, I was dissatisfied with the limitations imposed with Hawke's Andrastian views, especially how he was limited to a religiously Andrastian point of view. I'm looking forward to playing as a Dalish mage in Inquisition, and finding out more about the Dwarven and Vashoth racial options. Lobsel Vith (talk) 19:49, March 25, 2014 (UTC)

In DAI all elves are Dalish and Vashoths are atheists, I have an atheist friend, who curses with using god as word, that's because when she's excited or desparate, she isn't picky in curses.FirstDrellSpectre (talk) 21:06, March 25, 2014 (UTC)
Oh Drell your just speculating again. You have no evidence that they are atheist like you.122.54.218.77 (talk) 07:25, March 26, 2014 (UTC)
Qun is a philosophy about a specific order, not a religion worshiping gods and vashots have no reason to take Imperial or Andrastian or any other religion as their own.FirstDrellSpectre (talk) 07:53, March 26, 2014 (UTC)
What about elves? Many elves belive in the Creators so they are not atheist. About the Qunari, atheist is not a good term describing them. They are pagan people like dwarves.112.200.56.110 (talk) 09:09, March 26, 2014 (UTC)112.200.56.110 (talk) 09:07, March 26, 2014 (UTC)
I said "any other religion", evlish religion is among them. Dwarves are more religious than qunari, the latter don't have religion but philosophy and they don't prey.FirstDrellSpectre (talk) 09:13, March 26, 2014 (UTC)
The Tal-Vashoth is an atheist too but they are regarded as outcast. Religion doesn't rely on praying, it needs faith. Many Qunari have faith to the Qun that their names are the title they own since childhood.112.200.56.110 (talk) 09:20, March 26, 2014 (UTC)
I wasn't talking about the battle cries or the cursing. I was addressing the limitation in Hawke only being able to express that he believes in the Maker, such as when he tells Merrill that his mother is with the mother, or his religious conversations with Sebastian, or even when he tells Feynriel (who believes in the Creators) that he hopes the Maker guides him. While Hawke can express belief in the Maker, I'm not given the chance to have Hawke express that he doesn't believe in the Maker, like I was with The Warden, who can express that he doesn't believe in the Maker and that he doesn't think Andraste was a divine figure. Lobsel Vith (talk) 21:31, March 25, 2014 (UTC)

I tried to pick my primary PCs based on which would have the most interesting motivations and interactions in my mind. So DA:O was the city elf with a warrior heritage being pulled between the Dalish separatism and her family in the Alienage while being forced to lead the humans and everyone else in a fight for survival.

With not much to choose in DA:2 I went with the rouge, thereby having less of a connection to either side.

In DA:I I'll probably start with a female Vashoth mage. There will be the draw of her people versus seeing the Qun from the outside and being raised in a different culture. Being a mage by blood but seeing what magic gone wrong can do. Having seen the true danger in person, the plan will be to force a peace on the combative fools whether they like it or not. She won't be interested in taking the side of any of the religions, much less the Mages or Templars. I expect much antagonism from the npcs. CLuhrsen (talk) 23:18, March 25, 2014 (UTC)

In DA:O I played as a Dalish rouge because I love elves and because rouges just fit my play preference the best. I played all the other origins because I was curious how they turned out. In DA2 I played a rouge again for the same reason. In DA:I I will start as an Elf Rouge again, but I'm also really curious about being a Qunari.User:LilFlame2001 (talk) 6:29, April 2 2014

Dwarf inquisitor seems pretty cool. Though not the most aesthetically pleasing, they seem like the most appropriate for the story since they seem the most objective and in the right position to influence which way the winds blow as they have their hands in the distribution of lyrium. Humans are too influenced by the fearmongering Andrastian rhetoric, Magi's though I support their cause, have their rotten blood mage apples, Elves seem too opportunistic to get the upper hand on all the races to regain their former glory, damn the consequences, and Qunari either follow the Qun, nazi religious zealots which goes against my pro-freedom Inquision, or tal-voshoth, who are just bronze mercenary humans with horns. Hope Varric is romanceable cuz that guy needs to get laid.(Sports72Xtrm (talk) 12:07, April 2, 2014 (UTC))

I'll likely play everything but human assuming the game can hold my interest long enough for me to bother, which from what I gather from news and stuff is a pretty big if. Anyway, canning the cynicism for a moment I doubt I'll be playing as a human because humans are kind of boring. ----Isolationistmagi 16:14, April 2, 2014 (UTC)
