hi i would like to know if awaking is better than DA2 (or vice versa) and how good are they compared to origins (ive done origins twice) this is for xbox 360 btw. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Owdin1 (talkcontribs) 21:33, 2 July 2011 (UTC)

It's a matter of personal choice really. Origins is a longer game than Dragon Age II depending on how much you put into it, and keep in mind that Awakening is an expansion, not a full blown game. Personally, I preferred Origins to Dragon Age II, but preferred Dragon Age II to Awakening due to there being more content and some improved gameplay elements in DAII. I assume that you haven't played DAII or Awakening yet, if so, I'd recommend playing Awakening before Dragon Age II, but only if you care about story and a "legacy" of sorts when it comes to importing saves. So here I am about to analyze everything again. It's a bad habit I know. Here it goes...I personally liked Origins and DA 2 for several different reasons. In terms of character development and story, and even graphically, Origins is on the top of my list. However, DA2's gameplay is faster and funner, for me at least and I know that a lot of people don't like that about the game. I love playing a rogue and mage in the second game as oppose to the first where playing a mage was just a point your stick and summon spells thing. As King Cousland stated, Awakening is an Origins expansion so it's a lot like Origins in that regard. I just kind of tie the two games together. Overall, Origins is a far superior game but DA2's combat makes me never want to go back to it. Of course, I did play the crap out of Origins so maybe I'm just tired of playing it. That might be it too ^_^--Fantasyeve87 22:11, July 2, 2011 (UTC)

Yes! Rogue is so much fun in DA2! In Origins, it was constant repositioning ugh! I played my Rogue like I played my Warrior in Origins: straight up. In DA2, though, there's a heavy emphasis on critical chance (Warrior and Rogue) but it's much more fun playing a Rogue. Vendetta is my favorite talent in the entire game.

@Fantasyeve87 - I've gone back to Origins after having played 2, and it's been a year or so since I was into Origins the first time round. And initially it was like ooh, heck, the graphics are a bit of a step backwards, but you get used to it, haven't played 2 since going back and I no longer constantly think about the graphics. Atm it's just like when I was playing it before.

@Odwin1 - You can't compare Awakening to 2. There's no point, Awakening is simply an extension of the experience Origins supplies. Golems of Amgarrak to Awakening? Yeah one's a lot shorter and basically one mission in one area, whereas the others a lot of new areas and many, many new missions. Origins + Awakening + the rest of the DLC vs DA2 + any subsequent DLC, that's fair. Although, the victor is already streets ahead. S13Kuro (talk) 01:41, July 3, 2011 (UTC)

What S13Kuro said holds true. You can't compare Awakening to 2. For starters, Awakening is only 11 hours while DA2 is about 20 (joke). Golems of Amgarrak and Witch Hunt are roughly an hour each, so they're out of the picture, too.

Origins is much more immersive, IMO, and a better RPG than DA2. DA2's combat, however, is much more enjoyable, IMO. Depends on what you're comparing as, I guess. Personally, I love Origins. I can't get enough of it. But, for some really odd reason I can't fathom, I can't stop playing just the Prologue (flight from Lothering) of DA2.

Time comparison: Origins alone is about 35 hours (skipped dialogue, every quest done). Awakening is about 11 hours (skipped dialogue, every quest done). DA2 is about 15 hours (skipped dialogue, every quest done).

I'm pretty sure I didn't answer your question, but I love typing. Quirkynature (talk) 02:42, July 3, 2011 (UTC)

Origins by a huge margin. Awakening second, DA2 lagging behind even that. Origins has great depth, had a lot of time and hard work spent on it and offers a practically unprecedented amount of replay value for a modern game. Awakening expands on Origins slightly and offers some new features (nothing too special though) but lacks some of the depth, has only a few choices and always between only two options and overall feels somewhat rushed. DA2 is a rather shallow game that offers almost zero replay value (almost everything is the same no matter what 'decisions' you make) and lacks the depth and charm of Origins. it's by no means a bad game, but compared to Origins it certainly looks like one.
