Just curious. Please post your custom names. Fifthace135 (talk) 14:41, August 24, 2011 (UTC)

Ol'Red Or Barkspawn.TheProphet (talk) 14:48, August 24, 2011 (UTC)

I name all my dogs Kimba, after my dog who died recently at age 13. --Sencilia (talk) 14:51, August 24, 2011 (UTC)

Tyse. Grey Warden David (talk) 14:52, August 24, 2011 (UTC)

I normall name the Mabari Falon if I'm playing an elf (Dalish or City) Salroka if I'm playing a Dwarf (I've only played as a commoner never a noble) and Bane as a Human (Mage or Noble both)Aelise Surana (talk) 15:06, August 24, 2011 (UTC) Aelise Surana

thats odd, thats what I call my warden, Bane!! EWRPV (talk) 18:19, August 27, 2011 (UTC)

I always call mine Mutt. Regardless of my origin. -- IJordon (talk) 15:08, August 24, 2011 (UTC)

Origin's Dog's name was Blade after my real life Staffy/Beagle cross, his a rescue dog and that was the name he came with. DA2's Dog is Rabbit after the example name given to DA:O's Dog by a writer. Andy the Black (talk) 15:14, August 24, 2011 (UTC)

Most often, "Barkspawn". In my last Dalish run-thru, I named the mabari Shartan, and in my last HN run-thru, I named him Calenhad. Next up, I think I'll name him Dane. In DA2, I usually name the dog SerBarksALot. Gruedragon (talk) 15:19, August 24, 2011 (UTC)

My canon dog is named Iggy. (On a less canon playthrough I named him Mangy, because Alistair argued with Morrigan that "he's not mangy!" And so it's like a joke. B/c he's not mangy...but he is. (Note I didn't say it was a funny joke.)) HELO (talk) 15:37, August 24, 2011 (UTC)

I named my dog "Mabari" in my first playthrough, what I realized was a terrible mistake after my first encounter with hostile mabaris considering visual clarity.... XD 79.238.209.96 (talk) 15:59, August 24, 2011 (UTC)

It doesn´t matter the origin, the dog´s name is always Todinho. In DA2 it´s Todinho too.Mendigobebado (talk) 16:22, August 24, 2011 (UTC)

In DA:O it differed between Barkspawn, Sgt. Barkers, and Nugget. In DA2, I only ever name him Barkwall.--TheGreyestWarden (talk) 16:24, August 24, 2011 (UTC)

Usually I tend to name my dogs after whatever inspired the naming of my PC's. For example, one of my warriors was named Phoenix, after Phoenix Wright, so since I was keeping with that theme, I chose to name my dog Edgeworth (it has nothing to do with the fact that hes a bit of a bitch I swear!). Another example is one of my mages who I chose to name after one of the main antagonists of F.E.A.R, Paxton Fettel; my mage being named Paxton, and my dog being named Fettel (I'm so clever ~sarcasm~ XD) If there is no pair up that matches with my PC's name, then I just choose to name my dog Ser Mauls; I'm up to Ser Mauls the 3rd now :p Sevarian10 (talk) 16:59, August 24, 2011 (UTC)Sevarian10

Pooch, very time, no exceptions. I don't know, I blame my brother =D Elthadriel (talk) 17:21, August 24, 2011 (UTC)

Mine have to do with what I’m listening to or watching at the time. I’ve gone Bubba to Komui (from D.Gray) and my latest ones were Bramblepelt and Peepums, courtesy of MBMBaM (My Brother My Brother and Me.) Mrs.AlistairTheirin 17:31, August 24, 2011 (UTC)

I usually name the dog Duncan after.. what his name?--Armfeldt (talk) 17:40, August 24, 2011 (UTC)

Whenever I'm evil, the dog's name is "Gaulm," after a mad dwarf who goes around killing people. And when I'm good, I name him Xiertard, after a particularly ferocious and loyal guard dog I know. 74.83.213.26 (talk)

It depends on a few things. If my main Mage is running Flaming Weapons, then I name him Growlithe, for obvious reasons. I'm also partial to Beast, Malachi and Dog. Dragonseth07 (talk) 19:19, August 24, 2011 (UTC)

Wooooo Pokemon is awesome! Phyn!X5 (talk) 9:23, August 25, 2011 (UTC)

I named my Origins Mabari, either Wrath or Ruin, and I named my DA II Mabari, Talon.TheSavage (talk) 19:31, August 24, 2011 (UTC)

Lupus - because it's lupine (i.e wolf like) and because I like the name. I wonder if House - it's never Lupus came into too. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ser Pedantic (talkcontribs) 20:51, August 24, 2011

Dane, based on the old Fereldan hero of the same name who used mabari war hounds. Aleksandr the Great (talk) 22:33, August 24, 2011 (UTC)

In Origins: Huon, Fenris, Argos, Barkspawn. In DA2: Barkspawn, Carver. --Tanis84 (talk) 22:57, August 24, 2011 (UTC)

Carver. LOL. Quirkynature (talk) 23:02, August 24, 2011 (UTC)

So many different names... Cujo, Cerberus, Porkchop, Fido, Thor, Fang, Bubba, Whizzer, etc. Plenty others I can't think of right now. LVTDUDE (talk) 23:01, August 24, 2011 (UTC)

Barkspawn, and on my last playthrough, Vigilance because it is 1 of the best swords in Awakening. (My opinion NOT a Fact don't flame me) Phyn!X5 (talk) 9:15, August 25, 2011 (UTC)

I think "Dino Dan" is a good name. I have used it for mabari of both games and a dwarf warden :p --Alexiolio (talk) 23:21, August 24, 2011 (UTC)

In DA:O I used Zeus (main), Titan, Spartacus. In DA2 I used Titan and Porkchop.SynysterShadows1213 (talk)

I named them the same way I name my children in The Sims: the name of my XBL friends. --CommanderCousland (talk) 23:38, August 24, 2011 (UTC)

Barkspawn and Barkspawn II.Noctarius (talk) 23:51, August 24, 2011 (UTC)

Tully--JackfieldsA113 (talk) 23:58, August 24, 2011 (UTC)

I call mine Thunder or Lightning if I'm a mage and Liam if I'm a noble. If I'm a Dalish Elf I called in Artimus (greek goddess of hunt) Dragonage17101996 (talk) 00:03, August 25, 2011 (UTC)

I named mine Mouse, after the dog in the Dresden Files. Team Sp00ky (talk) 17:10, August 24, 2011 (UTC)

I'm a big fan of Steve Martin's "The Jerk". Depending on my mood, I'll call him "Lifesaver" or "Sh--head".

In one of my playthroughs I played as a mentor-like Dalish and called myself Yoda. I called the dog Darth Vader. In the codex for the dog it said that Yoda became Darth Vader's master. :P But otherwise I ususally call the dog Wrex as in Mass Effect one. :) Henio0 (talk) 01:09, August 25, 2011 (UTC)

I call him Cerberus, of course! M.Dragon (talk) 01:19, August 25, 2011 (UTC)

I leave it as the default "Dog" as that is what I call my dog, of course it doesn't matter what we call her because she is completely deaf.174.45.9.40 (talk) 01:30, August 25, 2011 (UTC)

I always name mine Crash, after my pitbull:)Devilkat (talk) 02:07, August 25, 2011 (UTC)

Oh, lots of names: Frodo, Samwise, Fereldan, Gamlen, etc. And when I played as Jayne Cobb Hawke, the dog was Serenity. AL-astaria (talk) 02:10, August 25, 2011 (UTC)

Hee, one of mine was also named Gamlen. :D Dorquemada (talk) 09:28, August 25, 2011 (UTC)

Scooby in my canon games. In the rest I'm lazy and just call him Dog. 220.177.144.151 (talk) 03:10, August 25, 2011 (UTC)

Alistair says, "He's not mangy!" That's why I usually name him 'Mangy' Futonrevoltion (talk) 03:23, August 25, 2011 (UTC)

In my original playthrough I named him Armour. My reasoning was that it was the HN origin, and it seemed to fit that you had him as some sort of protection. (Sees an opening for birth control jokes). Plus I just wanted something that sounded pretty badass, as those dogs looks like they could tear even a seasoned knight a new one. Seriously, when they sit down they're like up to the humans' elbow level, stand up and think how friggin huge that dog is. It's like a great dane (just realised the whole 'Dane' reference in these games *facepalm*) on roids. In my more recent playthroughs I named him Theo. Wanted to give him an actual name, rather than being named after an object or something. In any playthroughs after I started that, I kept it up, as he's like another companion so why not keep the same name as if it's the same dog? Haven't played DA2 with the dog DLC as of yet. S13Kuro (talk) 03:55, August 25, 2011 (UTC)

I believe the mabari were inspired by the real life Presa Canario dog breed, which is still a massive dog at about half the mabari's apparent size. Fifthace135 (talk) 13:06, August 25, 2011 (UTC)
I thought they were based off of a Mastiff? The breeds are somewhat related but I don't think they would base it off a spanish breed when ferelden is based off of england.174.45.9.40 (talk) 16:18, August 25, 2011 (UTC)
Actually look at several pictures of these three breeds. The mabari aren't really much like an English mastiff at all. Look at the beautiful brindle colorations that occur naturally on the Presa and tell me that doesn't look exactly like several of the kaddis and warpaints. Plus the Presa's head shape is closer. Fifthace135 (talk) 23:47, August 25, 2011 (UTC)

My Origins dog was named Wrex, as an obvious reference as well as the name of my actual dog. My DA2 dog was named Shepard.--B. Dynamite Tabris (talk) 04:18, August 25, 2011 (UTC)

Greetings from Poland. In Dragon Age Origins I named my dog Carnius. In Dragon Age II it's actually SLOF.... ( Shit Load of Fuck ), because it's simply useless and the quest beware of the dog is one of the most primitive i've ever done i in any RPG game i played. I don't know if I posted this according to the rules of this forum as it is my first post here so sorry if I did it not right:)( Bartek from Poland ) 08:38, August 25,2011

In Origins I named my vicious, badass mabari warhound Fluffy. I named him Bulbasaur in DA2. ChemistryCat (talk) 06:58, August 25, 2011 (UTC)

First playthrough: Franz. Second: Heinrich Third and the following: El Wuffo Teyx (talk) 08:35, August 25, 2011 (UTC)

For some reason I always call my dog some rich and posh persons name like Jefferey or Ronald--Jordan Cousland (talk) 10:26, August 25, 2011 (UTC)Jordan Cousland

Sceolan. If you catch that refrence without google you have my respect, and also pity that you are as book-bound as myself. (175.39.32.147 (talk) 10:53, August 25, 2011 (UTC))

^ I like it :3 I usually pick names from mythologies too. Celtic, Norse, Greek, Roman. Celtic for Elf, Norse for Dwarf & Greek/Roman for Human playthroughs, they just seem to fit well :) Tyr Aeducan (talk) 15:00, August 25, 2011 (UTC)

I called him Caeser after the ape out of planet of the apes and the fallout character.Ruairi46 (talk) 12:09, August 25, 2011 (UTC)

DA:O and first playthrough DA2: Ares, after the god of war. Second and third playthroughs...Barkspawn. Xelestial (talk) 13:28, August 25, 2011 (UTC)

Named mine Kitty, every single game except my most recent one where I named him.//har Daisuke. :fuckyeah: 72.20.128.250 (talk) 13:37, August 25, 2011 (UTC)

Originally I called Dog "Stink". After I got Shale's DLC I called Dog "Kitty" (I pretended there was a third option in Shale's quest where I convinced the Desire Demon called Kitty to accompany me in my warhound). After Chronicles was released I always named Dog "Barkspawn". In DA2 I named Dog "Max" in honor of my favorite Warden PC. --Zambingo (talk) 20:18, August 25, 2011 (UTC)

Always call my canon dogs like Ferelden Heroes in Origins was Dane and in DAII Hafter. In other games its varied: Barkspawn, Carver. For my next game I was thinking call him The Dog More Powerful Than Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, and The Incredible Hulk Put Together.

i call mine Caesar or Praetorian.

Te Shukalaryc Mand'alorFile:JaingHead.svg 17:18, August 26, 2011 (UTC)

I used to name mine Cheyenne (after my own dog), then I started using Barkspawn after playing Darkspawn Chronicles, now I use Fenris (after the mechs in ME2). 173.61.77.201 (talk) 18:04, August 26, 2011 (UTC)

I always name mine Xampu--Gladiatuss (talk) 21:41, August 26, 2011 (UTC)

I name my dog fluffy or cuddles —Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.26.15.22 (talk) 22:05, August 26, 2011

Fitzgerald. At first (like in Origins) I always named him Alexander, but in my recent playthroughs, I call him Fitzgerald. I was trying to think of a new name for him and that one just popped into my head. It seriously made me LOL, so I knew it was the one. XIII Lightning (talk) 22:53, August 26, 2011 (UTC)

I named my dog, Krouser. But my friend has me beat because she named her dog, Mr. Fluffykins. GreyWolf84 (talk) 04:36, August 27, 2011 (UTC)

Gutripper and Soulflayer, to name a few. 60.48.255.3 (talk) 11:13, August 27, 2011 (UTC)

I named my dog Cornelius for no apparent reason, and I upp him to Cornelius the 2nd, 3rd etc. for every playthrough. Though if we get a mabari in DA3, i'm going to have to go with Barkspawn XD. EWRPV (talk) 18:23, August 27, 2011 (UTC)

Ballbiter.

I name mine either "Cash" after good ole Johnny Cash. Or "Axel" after Axl Rose from Guns N Roses. On a few occasions when I did a quick run through of both games I have used the names - Bruno and Butch. 216.221.96.202 (talk) 02:49, August 28, 2011 (UTC)

I named my DA2 dog "Fenris," not realizing there'd be a character later with the same name... Diyartifact (talk) 05:52, August 28, 2011 (UTC)

My dog's name is Baxter, he is my pride and joy and my little gentleman.--Calle Cousland (talk) 06:46, August 28, 2011 (UTC)
