So I was looking through Inquisition companion and advisor pictures, and most are really not up to standard, with quite a few not even being from in-game. So, I'd love to see what our super talented editors can do to improve them. If any of you have images you think you would work, please upload them here and let's see what we can do!

Discussion

As it stands now, I feel that Dorian and Cassandra already have decent pics, but I thought I'd throw them in there too just in case someone has something amazing. Loleil ^Talk 10:43, April 2, 2015 (UTC)

I don't like the Iron Bull one which I think has his face too far away. I would support remaining with the current Iron Bull image.

I originally did that to fit his horns in but if someone uploads a better image I have no problem with it. Also I think the new image of Solas Loleil uploaded is perfect, same with Cullen. Cassandra I disagree with as her face is shadowed on one side, same with Josephine. Blackwall is fine in my opinion. Personally I think Vivienne would look best with her hat on but there aren't any decent in-game shots of that. --Xsari ^(Talk) 11:49, April 2, 2015 (UTC)

Honestly I think most of the current companion images are fine. I would switch to option 1 for solas and cullen and maybe get an image for varric where his mouth isn't open. Otherwise though, I think they're fine.

I've been waiting for this thread. I didn't know I wanted it, but I've wanted it. Ever since I tried to change the infobox images on some of the companion pages, they've been on the mind while editing. There are some pictures which I think are better than the current ones, but until I changed it, they were only on one page. Ooohh. Nice Blackwall image Dragonzilla. I much prefer that one since you can clearly see his mouth is closed and not mid sentence or in heavy breathing mode. I vote Blackwalls is changed to the new one since theres no open mouth and more shine to his face. Looks that little bit better in my opinion. As for the others, its only Josephine and Varric that I think could do with an improvement. The new Bull ones good, but neglects the horns, but then with the size of them you can only really have "close-up horns cut out" or "Horns in but face far away"... I'm still against using an image of Iron Bull that doesn't show his horns in their entirety. I mean, they're a big feature of him and should be portrayed in his infobox image. The Cole image is nice and I'd love to see it in the gallery on his article, but again, it's too much of a closeup to be fitting for the infobox. I think that at the very least, the character's entire head should be in the image. The artistic ones can go in the article.

Dorian's and Cassandra's already look beautiful, I see no need to change them just for the sake of changing. Sera's and Solus' new ones look good, so I'm in favor of them. But isn't the "new" option for Varric a screenshot from a trailer? It's also too dark. Hopefully someone can get a good one from in the game. --♫ Kelcat ^Talk 18:44, April 2, 2015 (UTC)

So it's looking like we've go some good options! I've put ticks next to ones we all seem to be in agreement about. Though, if there are extra suggestions for "ticked" characters, please add them!

I've uploaded new Leliana and Cassandra images, closed mouth ones are so hard to get! Been looking on YouTube as can't get pics from my xbox. So many videos have subtitles, it's frustrating! Will try to get some better pics of the other characters. I agree that Cole's hat is kind of an integral part of his character in Inquisition. Not to mention it's not really possible to get a cutscene screenshot of him without it. Also, Leliana 2a looks good! --

He only wears the Hat when he's at base, the same as Blackwall's undergarment armour or the Inquisitor's grey robes. Its not as if the hat has special narrative significance. Its be like saying a companion should only be shown with their default equipment because its more symbolic.

He also wears the hat during his personal quest which partially takes place in Redcliffe. What's the reasoning behind specifically not wanting an image with the hat? If it's not significant then it shouldn't matter one way or the other, as long as it's an image where his face isn't obscured. I would call that a quest I've never taken Cole on before It might be difficult to get a good image from there, but possible. I'm still not seeing why he shouldn't be wearing a hat in the infobox, though. --♫ Kelcat ^Talk 07:08, April 3, 2015 (UTC)

My point is there are plenty of cutscenes with Cole without the hat. As for why we should go for an image without the hat, I think as a general rule if its possible we hsould always go for an infobox image of a character with any sort of headgear to show a clearer profile, even if the hat does leave most of his face uncovered.

What an inflow of Solas pics. Option 2 looks too happy for Solas, but I'd support Option 3, 5 or 6. Option 6 could be cropped a bit to remove the unnecessary bits so it fits being an infobox image. BUT THOSE FILES NEED TO BE PROPERLY NAMED. --Dragonzzilla (talk) 20:28, April 3, 2015 (UTC)

There's some great Sola images there that could work well in his article, but I still feel option 1 is the best overall choice.

For diabetes-inducing Josephine, I recommend a shot of her smiling, like the first closeup of her revealed way back when, but taken from the game. Of all the companions/advisors, it would be the best way to reflect her role. Out in the sunlight, if possible, to match the others. RShepard227 (talk) 04:24, April 4, 2015 (UTC)

Of the new ones I like 2 for Blackwall, 3 for Josephine and 2 for Bull (could use the old one in the gallery to show full horns). Maybe also 2 for Vivienne as well, since there's no way to get a cutscene shot of her wearing the hat without a mask and most of the time she doesn't have it on anyway (was very disappointed by how she doesn't keep the hat on in cutscenes after all the advertising with her wearing it). As for tallying is there a way to do one of those vote graph things, the one with %. Can't think of the name for it right now. --Xsari ^(Talk) 11:08, April 4, 2015 (UTC)

Blackwall: Option 1 (Doesn't look as stiff as Option 2)
Cassandra: Option 4 (I experimented with between this and my other favorite, Option 1. I think Option 1 doesn't look awkward with the mouth open and I prefer the lighting, but we seem to be shooting toward a standard of "closed-mouthed". Option 4 takes up more space as well, so it fits her importance as a character)
Cole: Option 3a (I can make out the pixels in Option 2's hair and Option 4 looks like a hamster)
Cullen: Undecided (I rather like the current, and while I understand why Option 1 is preferable, something about it seems off to me. The lighting perhaps)
Dorian: Current
Iron Bull: Undecided (Still like this one, but it does cut off his horns. But I added Option 2 for that reason)
Leliana: Option 2a
Josephine: Option 3
Sera: Option 1
Solas: Undecided (Option 1 fits the standard, but I like Option 6a; looks determined. Plus, I like shiny things)

Just wanted to let everyone know that I will close this up to any new submissions in the next day. Minor adjustments to existing options (crops, lighting, etc.) will still be allowed.
