Ok so this is probably very out there but is it possible that Flemeth is an Old God? Or maybe a powerful Darkspawn? I mean, she knows so much, she can turn into a dragon, and her house in the wild never happens to be attacked by darkspawn. These all could be simply because Bioware felt like making it like that or coincidence. But perhaps she is an old god baby? She can obviously split her soul Voldemort style and she is remarkably powerful.I mean if Bioware did that ,in my opinion, it could totally work and be pretty cool finding out Flemeth has the soul of an old god. Thoughts?

Flemeth as an Old God is a popular theory that's been out there for a while. Certainly her comment to Hawke <i>"Perhaps I am a dragon..."</i> is intriguing in that regard. Given her role in pushing forth the Wardens and making the end of the 5th Blight possible, I find it unlikely she's a darkspawn - though I'd be willing to consider her as an Ancient Tevinter Magister, one who somehow avoided being tainted in the Golden/Black City (maybe by merging with a demon/spirit) - which would explain her desire to have Morrigan bear an Old God Baby. But generally, I'm agnostic on the whole subject of Flemeth as to whether she's an Old God, Fen'Harel, a powerful demon/abomination or something else entirely. I'm willing to let the writers take their time in revealing her 'story' as long as they continue in the way they've gone so far... I do not believe that Flemeth is an Old God, and here are some of my reasons why:
  +
  +
A.) She fears perishing under the blights. PERISHING, not corruption. If she were an old god, the logical fear would be that of corruption, not of being destroyed.
  +
B.) If she is an Old God, how did she reach the surface untainted? And why hasn't she tried to gather her old acolytes?
  +
C.) The Old Gods are MALE
  +
D.) There is no evidence of her producing a "call" in any way similar to that of the Old Gods, or any call at all, for that matter.
  +
  +
I also do not believe her to be an OGB, but there is insufficient evidence one way or another to confirm or deny this to be true.

Flemeth as Fen'Harel? No real opinion one way or another.

In the long run, I would have to agree with Qalan on this. Let the writers work it out. --[[User:Isolationistmagi|Isolationistmagi]] ([[User talk:Isolationistmagi|talk]]) 03:24, November 24, 2011 (UTC)

:As I said, I'm agnostic on the whole thing but I don't find your arguments all that conclusive:
  +
::A) I never take what Flemeth says fully at face value, if she feared 'corruption' would she be so foolish to say so? And is her 'fear' real or simply something to provide the Wardens/Morrigan a reason/motivation that they'll accept for her aiding them during the Blight?
  +
::B) We don't know enough about the whole Old Gods being trapped by the Maker (or simply slumbering as is claimed by some scholars in the 'Old Gods' codex) thing to make this a conclusive argument. Flemeth may have escaped the Maker's Wrath or been lucky in escaping the darkspawn taint and as a god with some apparent prescience, she may well be awaiting the 'right time' before seeking power/followers in a Chantry-dominated world.

::C) Some of the codex entries on the Old Gods are remarkably (deliberately?) gender-neutral and where they're not, it's again hardly conclusive that the male term is not one of convenience. Are the Old Gods really 'male'? Could they not appear 'female' if they wanted to or were hiding? Again, not a strong point, IMO

::D) We know that the Call/Song is sent out by <i><b>slumbering</b></i> Old Gods (ditto with Corypheus) - Flemeth doesn't look very sleepy to me. Again, hardly conclusive.

This thread again? I'm game.

I do not believe that Flemeth is an Old God, and here are some of my reasons why:

A.) She fears perishing under the blights. PERISHING, not corruption. If she were an old god, the logical fear would be that of corruption, not of being destroyed. B.) If she is an Old God, how did she reach the surface untainted? And why hasn't she tried to gather her old acolytes? C.) The Old Gods are MALE D.) There is no evidence of her producing a "call" in any way similar to that of the Old Gods, or any call at all, for that matter.

I also do not believe her to be an OGB, but there is insufficient evidence one way or another to confirm or deny this to be true.

Flemeth as Fen'Harel? No real opinion one way or another.

In the long run, I would have to agree with Qalan on this. Let the writers work it out. --Isolationistmagi (talk) 03:24, November 24, 2011 (UTC)

As I said, I'm agnostic on the whole thing but I don't find your arguments all that conclusive:
A) I never take what Flemeth says fully at face value, if she feared 'corruption' would she be so foolish to say so? And is her 'fear' real or simply something to provide the Wardens/Morrigan a reason/motivation that they'll accept for her aiding them during the Blight?
B) We don't know enough about the whole Old Gods being trapped by the Maker (or simply slumbering as is claimed by some scholars in the 'Old Gods' codex) thing to make this a conclusive argument. Flemeth may have escaped the Maker's Wrath or been lucky in escaping the darkspawn taint and as a god with some apparent prescience, she may well be awaiting the 'right time' before seeking power/followers in a Chantry-dominated world.
C) Some of the codex entries on the Old Gods are remarkably (deliberately?) gender-neutral and where they're not, it's again hardly conclusive that the male term is not one of convenience. Are the Old Gods really 'male'? Could they not appear 'female' if they wanted to or were hiding? Again, not a strong point, IMO
D) We know that the Call/Song is sent out by slumbering Old Gods (ditto with Corypheus) - Flemeth doesn't look very sleepy to me. Again, hardly conclusive.
I think the writers are going to draw this out as long as they can and I doubt we'll get conclusive evidence one way or the other for a while, and I'm fine with that... Qalan (talk) 05:10, November 24, 2011 (UTC)
