Hey guys

Me and my friend have talked about getting one of those Blood brothers tattoos. Our idea is that 1 sword from our favorite game will cross each other, pretty simple so far. He has chosen the famous Halo sword, since he is a big Halo fan. But that got me thinking, what is the most iconic or most historic sword in the Dragon Age universe? I'm thinking something like Certainty, but i havnt read the books ect. I would like to hear from you guys, if you have some other interessting one or two handed swords you think have had a big impact and why. In advance, thanks for the answers :)

Yeah, probably Certainty given its special relevance in DA2 and potential relevance in DA:I. Or maybe Maric's Blade. -Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 12:50, July 1, 2015 (UTC)

Certainty and Maric's Blade and Vigilance are most likely the three most famous swords in Dragon Age. However, the most iconic blade in my opinion is the nameless "Grey Warden" sword from DAO's first teasers and its cover art. Every long-time Dragon Age fan knows what it looks like, even if it doesn't always appear in the game. It's one of my mental touchstones for what DA is. --Dragonzzilla (talk) 15:11, July 1, 2015 (UTC)
Just so we're clear, that nameless blade isn't Yusaris or Asala, right? EDIT: You're referring to the teaser trailers, not the title screen. In that case, not sure which one you're referring to. RShepard227 (talk) 20:27, July 1, 2015 (UTC)

Certainty would be my guess, well at least in terms of recent events, with Vigilance probably being there too. Glandivalis should be mentioned though, as it seems to be a historically important sword, in terms of who wielded it (Shartan). The Sword of Charris Allied looked pretty cool, aesthetically, but it's not really iconic, apart from looks though.

Also, Starfang, imo is rather iconic. It's one of the most powerful swords in DAO and the best looking. Plus, it is made from a meteor; it reminded me of Dawn from ASOIAF in that sense. Winterblade, that belonged to Dane is pretty legendary too, especially considering who wielded it. You should be able to find images of these on the wiki here, anyways.

Though, gotta say: I really do want fantasy games to establish more of a reverence for legendary weapons though. It'd be nice. ASOIAF has brilliant swords, with long histories, and though there are some here and there, it's really not that much of a big deal nor do I expect it to be. Though, it's a very pedantic, personal issue of mine. So no biggy. Lazare326 18:53, July 1, 2015 (UTC)

I wonder if the Sulevin Blade is going to have that kind of mythos in subsequent games? RShepard227 (talk) 20:27, July 1, 2015 (UTC)

My vote goes to Vigilance, though Maric's Blade is a close second. Certainty isn't as big of a deal as you might think: it doesn't show up until the end of DA 2 and it may not show up at all in Inquisition. Vigilance and Maric's Blade both have quests involving them, and Vigilance is also Master Wade's masterpiece. It's actually made from dragonbone - neither Certainty nor Maric's Blade can claim they are literally from a dragon (although Maric's Blade can technically get dragonbone stats by using the party chest), as opposed to just from Dragon Age. Vigilance, without a doubt. No other weapon or piece of armor is mentioned in an epilogue. Certainty is probably also somewhat iconic, but for all the wrong things. Starfang is probably up there as well, because its a sword made from Superman's ship. He will fight for truth, justice, and the Fereldan way. --TheFereldenMagister (talk) 20:50, July 1, 2015 (UTC)
