In my opinion, if there wouldn't be a solution of mage - templars conflict, most of the rebelious mages would try to travel and live in Tevinter Empire (and we all should know why), what might help for Archont and whole Tevinter to become again main force in Thedas.
If this happens, Thedas will be probably broken forever between two sides: magocratical rules in Tevinter under the power of Archonts and Black Divines and the remaining parts of the continent will be - in my opinion - mainly focused on the Orlesians plans for dominating other countries such as Ferelden, Free Marches etc. And of course, those of mages who will stay in Circles under the power of Templars might become Tranquil.

In my vision of DA3 mages nor templars have future. Both warmongers will extinct in name of peace. I write this, because I see both sides as villains. Merdeith's dictatorship, Jeannot's failed assassination, Anders' terrorism, Lambert's mage hunt all those thing lead to chaos and anihilation. - I support logic and science, so I won't be sad in the least if the Templars and Chantry are wiped out. Out of all of the religions in the game the Dwarven ancestor worship is the most tolerable and Morrigan is still my favorite romance interest due to her atheism.
