The reason that the Grey Warden blood worked is because of the magic of the joining. They don't just use any blood they use magically modified Archedemon Blood. There is powerful magic and rituals that were all going into the Architects cure. and who knows what magic the Architect himself used on the grey warden blood. I would be more curious to see whether or not the Grey Wardens could use Red Lyrium safely without loosing their minds. It could accelerate their taint possibly, or it could just give them power. I know that Darkspawn and red Lyrium never interacted in DA:I but during a replay whenthe reveal of Red Lyrium being Blighted came up it got me thinking abut possible interactions between the two, as we can't be sure that they won't or haven't already in places beyond the reach of the Inquistion so I decided to post my mental explorations to see what the community thought.

My first thought was that the already present taint in the Darkspawn could slow or prevent the petrification caused by Red Lyrium, as with Meredith, possibly creating an effect like the Red Templars or possibly preventing infection at all. In all honesty I would hope that Bioware would create a variant of the abilities used by normal and Red Templars for these Infected Darkspawn, mainly because that sought of threat might create a possible uniting force for late in the foreshaddowed Warden Civil war. However with regards to Infected Darkspawn, even though we don't encounter them in DA:I, my next thought was whether it would enhance or alter the magic wielded by Emissaries.

My Second theory was that since Grey Warden blood seemingly processed in a similar way to the joining was used by the Architect to create his Disciples that those spawn infected with Red Lyrium might be freed from the influence of the old gods, as it seems a double dose of taint alters it, (quick side note: if this is the case could Red Lyrium help prevent the calling?), if Bioware went with this possibility it would be a way to have Sentient Darkspawn many fans see to want without being reliant on the Architect. It would also possibly create viable leaders for the Infected Darkspawn enemy faction I mentioned above.

My Final possibility and what I consider a worse case scenario would be the capture of one or more female Red Templars by Darkspawn and them becoming a new strain of Broodmother, producing Darkspawn who are inherently magic resistant possibly manifesting new abilities, whether either of my previous thought applied to these mutant broodmothers would be up in the air.

so what do you lot think in regards to these mad ideas of mine? Shield-Hound (talk) 21:06, January 31, 2015 (UTC)

I'm not sure how giving darkspawn red lyrium would be any different than giving them normal lyrium. They already have the taint, and any lyrium they got would become tainted (red lyrium). How extactly would a double does of taint make any difference? A person with small pox* can't get small pox again, and a second does of small pox would not cure them or make them small pox resistant.
