Yes, your script would be helpful. Even though I am past that point in most of my playthroughs, my current one has not been to Orzammar yet. Thanks. [[Special:Contributions/71.41.126.123|71.41.126.123]] 12:02, March 16, 2010 (UTC)

I've commented out the lines that deal with Zevran in the script above since you didn't say he was broken in your game. Only the plot flags for characters that were not yet encountered or recruited before the selectparty console script was run need to have their recruitment reversed. For those who find this script by searching, it does not reverse the damage from selectparty under all circumstances. It assumes that you're not only past the intro & prelude (yes, selectparty can screw them up too), but that the only companions you haven't recruited are Oghren, Loghain & Zevran. Zevran however would need to be uncommented for his recruitment to be reversed. To reverse the recruitment of other companions, additional lines would need to be added to the script.

NOTE: I had to space all the lines over by one to ensure that the wiki doesn't get confused by # and /. So you'll have to remove the first space on each line when pasting this script over. [[User:-Vim-|-Vim-]] 18:39, March 16, 2010 (UTC)

I am in my 5th playthrough. There are some quests and things that are always borked for me, from the first playthrough on.

Forums: Index > Game DiscussionQuests I cannot finish
Note: This topic has been unedited for 5148 days. It is considered archived - the discussion is over. Do not continue it unless it really needs a response.

One is the Trial of the Crows. I get the assignment to kill the guy in the tavern, but he is in a locked room that I cannot enter. I have viewed the Warden poster, but when I go to the Pearl, the room he is in is locked and I have no way of getting in

.Another one is where I have to get the silver bars from the warehouse in Denerim. I get 6 silver bars and there is nothing left to get, but my contact won't acknowledge anything and the quest remains open.

On a different note, I can't ever seem to get Oghren in my party (in a legal way). I can cheat him in, but that's it. When I first see him arguing with the other dwarf, he walks off and I can't find him anywhere. He is supposed to be found in Tapster's, but there is no sign of him. When he is forced into my party for the quest A Paragon of Her Kind, he is there, but not there. he is invisible in cutscenes, but I hear his voice (sometimes).

Man, there are sure a lot of bugs in this game. Patch61 02:17, March 15, 2010 (UTC)

  • so what happens when you try the door to Paedan's room in the tavern? Usually it is

"What's the password?"
"The griffons will rise again." (or something similar)

and the door opens. Are you not getting the option to pick this password or...?

With the silver bars, yeah, Slim seems to continuously have the quest marker over his head. He will have new quests after the landsmeet.

You are not meant to be able to recruit Oghren until he accosts you as you try to enter the deep roads. Not sure why he is not shown in the cutscenes. Retro21 02:27, March 15, 2010 (UTC)

When I click the door to Paedan's room, it tells me 'Impossible to pick' and I hear the lock click sound, but that's it. Never had anybody ask for the password in any of my games (all of these things I've listed happen in 100% of my games).Patch61 03:34, March 15, 2010 (UTC)

- Regarding getting into Paedan's room: have you talked to Sanga out in the main room of the Pearl? I usually talk to her first, and ask about "a meeting of friends." She will react suspiciously. After that I go to Paedan's room and the option to supply a password comes up. Hope that helps.

Also, with Slim Couldry's quests, getting them updated can be a bit glitchy. It seems the problems all start with the break-in to Lady Sophie's room, in my game. You can easily break in to her room before you ever talk to Slim Couldry, right? So if you do, he seems to glitch out on the next crime after that one by only wanting to talk about your break-in to lady Sophie's room instead of updating the most recent crime you did for him. Then the next time you complete a new quest for him he will update the one before that, and so on. The glitch piles up until the end, where after you have completed all quests for him he will still only update to the second-to-last one you completed. So frustrating. I haven't found a way to fix this other than by ignoring lady Sophie's room entirely until after Slim has told me about it. Not sure if this is what has happened to you, but hopefully this will help someone out. Madelonia 23:24, March 15, 2010 (UTC)

I had the Oghren glitch in my first playthrough. It was my own fault - it has something to do with using the cheat codes to add party members. I'm not sure how, but using cheats to change my party/switch my party around in areas not normally allowed seemed to have the added effect of recruiting all party members (even those I hadn't met yet). The effects were weird - couldn't find Oghren in Tapsters, then i got invisible Oghren talking/glitched at the end, and it added Loghain to my party (although he didn't show up on the party screen) which meant that even though I had killed him in the landsmeet, at the coronation when Alistair is crowned king, Loghain was chilling in the corner. He also (invisible) took the place of Alistair when saying goodbye before the final battle. In my later playthroughs, I never used the console command cheats to go to the party screen in any way - and my game was fine, everything was normal. A google search shows that the cheats are affecting it - its not a game bug. Moral of the story is don't use cheats, and plan out which characters you want to use ahead of time...haha. Most of the cheats are ok, but selectparty is evil. Don't use it under any circumstances unless you already have recruited every companion you want in your party. See the description of the command in the console wiki (which I edited about a week ago) for more details on how it can royally screw your game. I ended up digging around in the code with the toolset to figure out which plot flags needed to be adjusted and writing my own console command to undo the damage to my game since I didn't notice the damage until long after I used the selectparty command and couldn't just go back to an earlier save. -Vim- 07:42, March 15, 2010 (UTC)

Yes, I used selectparty.  : ( Yes, I broke into Sophie's room prematurely.  : ( Guess I'm just borked. I only hope nothing gets messed up carrying a character over to the expansion. Thanks to all that offered help/advice. Patch61 01:22, March 16, 2010 (UTC)

If you have the toolset and are interested, I can supply you with a short console script to fix the two plot flags for Oghren (and Loghain too) that selectparty screws up. The only caveat is that by playing past the point where Oghren is encountered you might have inadvertently screwed up another plot flag on top of the ones that were already screwed up by selectparty. So I'm not certain if my fix would work for you. I had something like that happen with Zevran, and I had to spend much time digging around for a 3rd plot flag that I had to unset to get his random encounter to trigger. -Vim- 03:27, March 16, 2010 (UTC)

Yes, your script would be helpful. Even though I am past that point in most of my playthroughs, my current one has not been to Orzammar yet. Thanks. 71.41.126.123 12:02, March 16, 2010 (UTC)

I've commented out the lines that deal with Zevran in the script above since you didn't say he was broken in your game.
