This is a story all about how Our wiki got flipped-turned upside down And I liked to take a minute just sit right there And tell you how we had to make some changes and wrote about a song that didn't rhyme

So, friends and peons! As you can now see, I've put the mockup into the front page. Don't fret. This doesn't mean the sky is falling. Or that Wikia and darkspawns and now gonna start having babies. This just means that the first phase is up. In the meantime, I am still taking feedback on the front page. Colors. Titles. Backgrounds. Whatever comes to mind. And if you suggest something, please keep it constructive - and support your argument with lots and lots of candy, or facts. Facts are good too.

Saying that "oh this splatter is mad awesome" doesn't make sense to me. But if you suggest something along the lines of "if you use a border to make the sections clearer" that makes sense and will more likely make it into the wiki.

Keep in mind that the fixed width is Wikia's idea - not mine. So basically if you have compliments, if you like the changes, send them my way. If you have complaints, send them to Wikia. :D -- tierrie talk contr 02:47, October 25, 2010 (UTC)

Bugs

Sometimes jquery doesn't load fast enough and the design falls back into the Portal design. It buttons don't work and it doesn't swap pages. Instead clicking on the portals will take you the subportal page instead. This is by design for users who do not have javascript enabled. But not when the javascript takes too long to load. -- tierrie talk contr 03:15, October 25, 2010 (UTC)

Well, this is what the page looks for me. I can't find any way to get rid of that big Xfinity ad right there. I'm not sure if that's just on mine or if that's on everyones, maybe there's some kind of setting I'm missing, I don't really know. It does disrupt the page a more than a bit though. EDIT: Fixed my signature, my user preferences got changed somehow since I was last on, not sure how...  ✪Aedan Cousland | Talk | Contr 04:44, October 25, 2010 (UTC)

Good god. I saw ads screw it up a bit, but not like that. I'm going to check with Joe to see if I can move that. -- tierrie talk contr 05:21, October 25, 2010 (UTC)
I take it your ads are different then? I don't even know why I'm getting those Xfinity ads, Comcast doesn't even provide service in my area.  ✪Aedan Cousland | Talk | Contr 05:41, October 25, 2010 (UTC)
@Aedan Cousland, better now? -- tierrie talk contr 07:05, October 25, 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, that works. This is what I'm seeing now.  ✪Aedan Cousland | Talk | Contr 15:33, October 25, 2010 (UTC)

Dear lord...I never realized how many ads were up on Wikia (thank you, adblock)! Anyway, I'm liking it so far. The only thing is it looks kinda *odd* (for lack of a better word) in IE...not recognizing the background gradient, so it's just completely transparent. I dunno how wikia supports stylesheets and/or conditional comments, but maybe a conditional can be added to give it a flat transparency, instead?

<!--[if IE]>
  <style type="text/css">
  .portal_selection {
     filter:alpha(opacity=50);
     opacity: 0.5;
     -moz-opacity:0.5;
  }
  </style>
<![endif]-->

I dunno. It really doesn't affect me, since I never use IE...was just a thought.  ;) Techwench (talk) 12:23, October 25, 2010 (UTC)

I like the new wikia, but it loads rather slowly on my computer. It may just be my dial-up, but the other wikia did not take near as long as the new one does. DalishAssassin (talk) 23:41, October 25, 2010 (UTC)

@User:DalishAssassin That sounds like the new features for this style more than the wiki itself. Another downfall to it but we have to live with it. --Tsavi (talk) 14:16, October 26, 2010 (UTC)

I liked the Blood splatter background better.
