This forum is just a discussion on new weapons/items you think would be good in DA. Personally I think that the DA series should have a spear as a playable weapon. I would prefer if it came with its own weapon talents but it could work as a two handed weapon talents as well. I just think spears are way cooler than swords/battleaxes/mauls. You know what I would LOVE to see? Arm-blades similar to the ones in "Prince of Persia: warrior within" or in "Blood Rayne". I think they could work as a replacement to the duel-wielding longswords they removed for the warrior class in DA2, and they would still be conspicuous enough that they would not seem no more out of place than say Bianca. Seriously, how badass would that be, walking around town with 2 GIANT longswords extending out of your forearms? Ahh, I can dream.. Sevarian10 (talk) 05:04, May 2, 2011 (UTC)Sevarian10

I Have a Deam that one day Thedas will see my hero with wolverine claw and +10000 health regeneration passive bonus upgraded at level 1. and I will jump around in battle because theres finally a jump bytton. that my dreaM. --pIERCtHEtRUTH

You mean like a Pata [1] ? I too would like to see spears, poleaxes, pikes, and so on but I doubt we will see any as long as there are no calvary(and the trend doesn't look to be towards adding any new content, the opposite in fact), if there was one good thing to say about DA2 is that one of the mage staffs looked like a spear. But assuming they make a real RPG again I would give poleaxe type weapons a longer reach but lesser damage, and if by some miracle they actually advance the game in the next I too would like to see each weapon type with it's own skill set, spears could have skills that jab into an enemy pushing them back.174.45.27.66 (talk) 05:27, May 2, 2011 (UTC)

You know what was really good about DA:O compared to NWN2?

In DA:O we had 3 races, in NWN2 we had a zillion
In DA:O we had 3 classes, in NWN2 we had a zillion
IN DA:O we had 4 weapon stiles (if we count staffs) in NWN2 we again had a zillion.

Fewer choices meant that you could expanded each of them more, making each of them more unique. When I played NWN2 I almost never played anything other then elf-rogue as it was one of the only classes that was actually useful for a PC, that had to have a lot of feats or skill or I don't even care what they called them anymore. In Baldur's Gate there were fewer classes and it was more simple, but it was still annoying and unnecessary complicated that "Wizard" and "Cleric" should be two distinct classes.

DA:O eliminated all that bullshit and created a really great game system, DA2 destroied must of it, which will hopefully be restored in DA3. But for the low of the Qun, the Maker and all the Creators don't try to introduce any new and unnecessary elements like staffs. -rphb- (talk) 11:27, May 2, 2011 (UTC)

And here I thought that was really bad about DA:O compared to NWN2. See, wizard and cleric ARE very distinct classes, also, in the last chapter your rogue loses half of its usefulness due to the undead being immune to backstabs. It's exactly why I had more runs of NWN2 than DA:O, despite of main campaign's not exactly fantastic story - different builds, different gameplay. In short - what you said above, is, like, just your opinion, man. Not a fact. Dorquemada (talk) 12:13, May 2, 2011 (UTC)

Are you telling me that you liked NWN2 better then DA:O? Sure the Story is equivalent, and the towns are even more realistic in NWN2, but the gameplay mechanism was revolutionary better in DA:O. -rphb- (talk) 12:38, May 2, 2011 (UTC)

As a whole game, a sum of various parts like story, characters, gameplay, what have you...no, not really (unless I'll count in Mask of the Betrayer, that one I found better than DA:O), although I still like NWN2 a lot. But in terms of pure gameplay, yep. NWN2's gameplay was more fun for me. Dorquemada (talk) 12:45, May 2, 2011 (UTC)

What is this? Diablo clone? LOL. So that we could have Spearahawke, or Bowahawke? Let's not have any new weaps here. Just make the existing ones really, really badass. No need for realism. What? We play games. We need to look good while we slash mooks to gory pulp. Make the greatsword really BFS. Make the swords real beauty (Arishok's sword is one perfect example of that). Katars could be introduced because they serve no better function than daggers, really, and doesn't need a different stance, and they look awesome. I don't care much about bows, but introduce some awesome bows and maybe I will play it just for the sake of looking good. --Braveangel (talk) 17:19, May 2, 2011 (UTC)

Staffs are not unnecessary please. I was sick of the mages attacks in Origins.

Hand and a half swords would be nice. You could use them with shields, or one their own to gain a bonus to attack speed and damage. Plus, they're some of the most badass swords out there, right next to Agni and Rudra.
