Would people please share their opinions on Aveline with me because I think she seems really boring, not just a bit dull but just downright boring. Like Sten but without the serious humour. Am I alone in this opinion? King of the Dusters (talk) 16:35, February 23, 2011 (UTC)

Oh wow, maybe because I saw a demo vid where she was the last party member alive and she killed the ogre single handedly, or tackling a hurlock and punchhing it before decapitating it, but shes pretty badass. Sten was a qunari who had a softer side. Aveline is a person who has lost to many people important to her she is just hardened. Subject 14 (talk) 16:39, February 23, 2011 (UTC)

I think she will grow as the game progresses and as her relationships with the other characters develope. We know her and Isabela will likely be at odds from the dialoge when you ask Isabela about the slaves for example.--Tedder12 (talk) 17:13, February 23, 2011 (UTC)

I'll let you know when the demo's downloaded and I've played it, obviously. It's taking forever on my PS3 for some reason. Weak Spot (talk) 17:21, February 23, 2011 (UTC)

I don't deny how badass she is (especially with the hurlock sword guillotine moment) but I don't think she is a particularly interesting character. King of the Dusters (talk) 17:33, February 23, 2011 (UTC)

Love her so far. Very atypical from normal Bioware females, both from a personality standpoint and a character design standpoint. Glad to see them branching out. Matt 2108 (talk) 17:45, February 23, 2011 (UTC)

I think that if you could romance her (as either sex) she would beat you. Desmond Cousland (talk) 19:03, February 23, 2011 (UTC)

I like Aveline so far and am bummed that she’s not a love interest for a male Hawke. Her back story is interesting and she kicks butt. People have been asking for a female tank for a while now, and I’m happy with the result. I think that as we get to know her and her character develops she will be a great ally or rival. I look forward to there being a lot of tension between her and Anders (an abomination) and her and Merril (a blood mage). 66.58.150.31 (talk) 19:51, February 23, 2011 (UTC)

One, since when was Merril a Blood Mage (apostate yes but not Blood Mage, confirmed anyway.) Two, her Husband dies any on in the game. I doubt that she be the flirty mood. I know that it takes place over ten years but still, Hawke hitting on a widow of a templar when his father and sister and maybe even himself are apostates.CrowInvictus (talk) 20:27, February 23, 2011 (UTC)
In a screenshot of dialogue between her and Hawke they are discussing Merrill's use of blood magic. Weak Spot (talk) 20:55, February 23, 2011 (UTC)
Could you provide a link? Crimpycracker (talk) 06:06, February 25, 2011 (UTC)

Anyway, I agree with King of the Dusters. She does seem to be a bit dull, but that could be due to the fact that her husband has just died, possibly by her hand. And there's no denying she's an excellent tank. In the two playthroughs I've done, one as a mage, one as a rogue, she's always been the last one standing against the Ogre that kills Bethany/Carver. I hope that she does lighten up, even just a little bit, as the game progresses though. Weak Spot (talk) 20:55, February 23, 2011 (UTC)

I think maybe it's because in the demo she didn't have a big part, however I kind of agree with you here. But I can't say much, it's only recently that I've started to like Zeveran, and I've played the game 4 times - LOL Charlotte cousland (talk) 22:53, February 24, 2011 (UTC)

I was skeptical of Aveline at first, I'm not sure why though. But after playing the demo my opinion has changed. True she didn't have a large role in the demo but she seemed like a pretty solid character and I think she'll make for some interesting devlopment. I know a lot of people made a big deal about her being "mannish" and what not, but... after seeing her in the demo I think there is something attractive about her. Of course, I'm still going after Merrill, even more so when I learned Eve Myles is Merrill's VA. (DDragonfly1990 (talk) 23:03, February 24, 2011 (UTC))

BTW before anyone says it. I am well aware that Aveline is NOT a love interest. I was just saying... (DDragonfly1990 (talk) 23:05, February 24, 2011 (UTC))

Guys, we just played an one hour demo that Aveline just speaks a couple of words and we're already saying that she's boring? Honestly, she seems like a decent and intereting character... And she looks like those russian women that throw axes. Also, she makes a terrific tank. She single-handed an ogre and five hurlocks while I was running like a little school-girl from a hurlock. —Rocketai (Ho there! Chase my tail!) 00:26, February 25, 2011 (UTC)

Reminds me of my mage Hawke playthrough so much it's sad ;D
As for Aveline, after playing the demo, I kind of like her; she seems consistent and interesting, and her voice suits her very well. Of course, we'll see what happens as the story progresses, but she might not end up as an extra, unused party member as I initially thought (without any basis, I'll admit). >>Thelostpleiad (talk) 11:53, February 28, 2011 (UTC)

Not as ugly as I thought, that's all I have to say about her.--SerSeploud (talk) 05:42, February 25, 2011 (UTC)

Personally did not think I would care for Aveline at all. She looked like a too-serious, too-self-righteous character that I just wouldn't care about. Surprisingly, in the very small part she had in the demo, she was the character I actually liked the most (though I'm sure I'll warm up significantly to most, if not all, the characters when the full game hits). I guess I just really liked the real caring she showed for her husband. Too often is it that characters do not have much emotional attachment to anyone but the main character. As a side note, I found her nicer on the eyes than I expected. She has a sort of hard quality that reminds me of my fem!Shep--not really pretty, but there's something beyond the looks that grabs you. Guess that could just be me, though. SpazzChicken (talk) 07:02, February 28, 2011 (UTC)

I wanted to like Avaline. I really did. I liked the concept. I loved the scene where she tackles and punches the hell out of the hurlock; I loved the brutality of it. After that...she just kind of dulled me. I think it was the voice acting, mainly. Very disappointing. Not to mention some of her lines are wonky; "Ah, I see it now" in response to learning warrior/rogue Hawke and Carver were at Ostagar; not "Ah, yea, I remember you two". Also I think the bit with Wesley wasn't handled right. You find him, he's injured, he runs along with you not doing anything, he's healthy save for the wound, you fight the ogre, then suddenly he's gone pale and his veins are black with corruption. There was no build up, no weight to it. Touching as the scene was it was a real diappointment.James Coty (talk) 20:50, March 1, 2011 (UTC)
