I wouldn't say that archdemons and red lyrium are directly related, but i strongly think they are related indirectly. Red lyrium has the blight in it, and we still don't know the true source of the blight. I bet the blight is at the golden city, where the magisters took it from willingly. It somehow was boubd to lyrium at primeval thaig, but how, why and by whom remains a mystery. It's very strange that the Primeval Thaig was abandoned before the magisters brought Blights, but its inhabitants were able to make an idol of blighted lyrium.

Forums: Index > Game DiscussionIs it possible that the archdemon is the result of red lyrium?

I don't know if this makes sense but I was thinking last night, what if the Archdemon isn't actually created by darkspwan but is the result of red lyrium penetrating the old gods prison. We all know that what red lyrium does to people. It changes them and mutates their bodies. If we looked at pictures of the Dragon of the fifth blight before the corruption you can visibly se the changes, as you could with the Templars. While the architect did say that it is the result of his attempt at the joining, what if he did it as a ploy to gain the sympathy of the warden or even something more. Is it possible that darkspawn blood contains the taint because of Red lyrium? That it's in their system. Once a person is infected with darkspawn corruption they change. The process leaves the mind delirious and unable to distinguish right from wrong. If we look at the effects the idol that Varric's brother had, it made him mad. It changed the way he thought, and it attracted spirits and demons through the veil. The appearance of darkspawn may in fact be demonic possession of a corpse? Even if the two are not connected I somehow feel like Red Lyrium plays a bigger part in Dragon Age than previously thought. Does anyone any ideas?

No. Red Lyrium was never found to occur anywhere naturally except the Primeval Thaig and the Red lyrium which showed up on the surface was created by corypheus introducing the darkspawn taint directly into lyrium. But while the red lyrium was still contained, archdemons were getting corrupted repeatedly.

hold on, where does it say that Cory corruped lyrium into red lyrium? I thought Cory took some from the thaig thanks to Bianka, and then began to spread it around. User signature henioo henioo (da talk page) 17:09, June 3, 2015 (UTC)
Thats how he spread it around.

Could you link me up to a source for this? I'm affraid I missed it where they explained that it was Cory who infected the red lyrium with the taint. User signature henioo henioo (da talk page) 09:46, June 7, 2015 (UTC)
