:::Let's say you spent the last three acts going the Friendship route with Sebastian. Didn't matter. Or perhaps you went the Rival route and have been telling him to GTF home for the last three Acts. Maybe you actually took the bother to attempt the peculiar mating rituals of a potential Starkhaven Princess. Didn't matter. The game tied the loyalty and fate of one companion to another - with no option to possibly affect the train wreck that was The Last Straw in any way at all. All you can do is buckle up for the Exalted March. ::::How right you are on that. On my first playthough I too was like you; I quite frankly liked Sebastian, and often agreed on some of the points he made during party banter (with the exception of his view on mages and the chantry as a whole). It was the main reason why on that playthrough I decided to side with him over Anders. But because of his actions and behavior during and after the Chantry was destroyed, I later decided to treat him like I do in regards to Loghain; Although at one point in time I did respect them and what they stood for, because of something they did or said that I full heartily couldn't condone with no matter how I previously felt, I can't bring myself to run to their defense because of it. In Sebastian's case it was when he threw a temper tantrum, saying that if I chose to spare Anders, he would burn Kirkwall to the ground because the city is full of "heretics", when it's Anders he has a beef with, not them; for someone who had just proclaimed during his Act 3 companion mission that the city and it's denizens shouldn't have to suffer due to proximity, that's unacceptable. And it's sad really; I had really hoped to change Sebastian's mind in regards to Anders, especially since I had full friendship with him at this point and I didn't want to lose any of them. It pissed me off that, despite what my status with him was, if I didn't condone with his thirst for revenge, he would harm everyone, including innocents, to do so himself. It was also because of that that, from there on out, I decided to Rival him; if he's going to leave me anyway (because I refuse to kill Anders again), then I might as well make him grow a pair when he does so. Perhaps in a future DLC or expansion, we may be able to change his mind before it's too late; if not, then he better be prepared for the fight of his life, because I sure as hell won't let him take my Hawkes, nor Anders. ::::: I actually warmed up to the guy in the last playthrough, when I used him almost constantly and discovered he does have a sense of humor. Still, I really hate ultimatums and killed Anders just because I was playing as a violent raging asshole, so, well...congrats, Sebastian - you are bestest buddies with a murderous idiot. Good for you, I suppose. Dorquemada (talk) 21:29, September 5, 2011 (UTC)

Forums: Index > Game DiscussionIs it bad that the first time i played DA2, when I played the Last Straw i laughed and thought you could have told me that?

So i'm not much of a Chantry lover, mostly because in my oppinion Elthina could have averted the war. I'm not saying what Anders did was right (even though i laughed), Anders is an idiot even if he had good intentions. But blowing up the chantry so that mages can rebel seems kinda of poetic justice... lol justice i wonder if he was in any way responsible for influencing Anders actions...

But what do you think will I go to doggy hell cuz i laughed?? --AndrewDMC94 (talk) 08:45, September 3, 2011 (UTC)AndrewDMC94

I'm more interested as to how a canine manages to game. Or post about it afterward on the net... S13Kuro (talk) 08:50, September 3, 2011 (UTC)

Dogs are very smart, take the mabari for example, Hawke's dog can play diamondback and is better then Anders at it. DawnOfTheNewDay (talk) 12:58, September 3, 2011 (UTC)

Indeed. Whenever my dog trys to help me out on WoW or post on Facebook (by jumping on my keybord) I only ever see negative results. Anyway, I think the big man in the petshop in the sky will want to know why you loled. Was it a "HA! You could of just told me you were going to do that" laugh? Or was it a "Bwa ha ha ha! I just help murderize tens of innocence" kind of laugh? Andy the Black (talk) 09:24, September 3, 2011 (UTC)

Well I guess it's because of the name. This name has something in common with blewing up everything...Anders here, Anders there:) [Troll], 12:01, September 3, 2011

One thing I know lol the first time I saw Elthina my very first thought was WTF she's possessed LOL --2.83.141.94 (talk) 10:36, September 3, 2011 (UTC)

I wasn't generally upset with Anders when it first happened, I was like "That's it?" then it hit me how much trouble that would cause with the mages and templars then I was like ಠ_ಠ "Anders, couldn't you have done that in secret or something? NOW I HAVE TO FIX YOUR MESS." I don't hate Anders for it, but I wasn't condoning it either because thanks to him it became my problem. DawnOfTheNewDay (talk) 12:50, September 3, 2011 (UTC)

My first thought was, "A big tall building explodes and folds down in flames. Yep, that's totally not deliberate use of the certain powerful image to invoke strong reaction. Totally." Dorquemada (talk) 14:11, September 3, 2011 (UTC)

I laughed. Not like I cracked up but like in Boondock Saints where they accidently shoot the cat. I hate that scene but every time I gets a “Hah!” out of me because it always takes me kind of by surprise. After that though I definitely thought “Well you could have told me that!” Mrs.AlistairTheirin 15:39, September 3, 2011 (UTC)

When I first saw that scene, I was like "O_O...DAAAAMMN", mainly because I did know it was coming, but I didn't think it would be THAT over the top ("Oooo pretty" :3). I did laugh a little though, but in a more "well... this is awkward" kind of way rather than "MUAHAHAHAHA * evil grin*". I still wish he had told my Hawke about his plan though, or at the very least, I wish the game gave me a "You IDIOT! You should have told me!" option that followed with a punch to the face, especially since I tend to romance the bum *sigh* A perfect renegade quick time option, WASTED! Sevarian10 (talk) 16:49, September 3, 2011 (UTC)Sevarian10

That renegade interrupt would have been fun, though. Although Shepard would have had "enough of (his) disingenuous assertions". Now THAT would have been cool. Wasted indeed. T_T Quirkynature (talk) 16:55, September 3, 2011 (UTC)
SHEP...er...HAAAAAAAWKE PUNCH! Andy the Black (talk) 18:40, September 3, 2011 (UTC)
Either that or HAWKE SMASH! Sevarian10 (talk) 19:15, September 3, 2011 (UTC)Sevarian10

My reaction to Anders blowing up the chantry was pretty much this: 1:Oh my god that was awesome! 2:How the hell did you do that!? 3:May I ask why the hell you never did that in combat!?

Ok so I didn't laugh MHUHAHAHA *evil grin* like sugested above but I was like awww the Chantry blew up, it must be tuesday (giggles)... (if that made sence, i don't think it did) ANYWAY then I was like WTH now i gotta fix this mess, I wanted to punch him but ohh well i told him to run for it...

--AndrewDMC94 (talk) 21:42, September 3, 2011 (UTC)Andrew

It must be Tuesday. I thought that was a Buffy reverence then. Andy the Black (talk) 21:59, September 3, 2011 (UTC)

Lol even though Buffy is awsome no it was actualy an Alistair reference... AndrewDMC94 (talk) 22:40, September 3, 2011 (UTC)

Ah yes, the "can we get back to the ritual dismemberments. Oh, wait, it's not Tuesday, is it?" line. That line itself is Buffy reference. So in a in a rather contrived way your line too is a Buffy reference. lol Andy the Black (talk) 23:01, September 3, 2011 (UTC)

I hope you're happy Andy, Andrew's head just exploded due to interconnection overloadingness. The names I needed to use in that sentence are almost head explodingly interconnectified enough... S13Kuro (talk) 00:18, September 4, 2011 (UTC)

Here to happily report that no heads exploded during any period of time. It was a Buffy reference? I didn't know that and I haven't watched Buffy in years so I don't really remember awsome remarks like this one. Thanks for clearing things up Andy. AndrewDMC94 (talk) 01:54, September 4, 2011 (UTC)

My first reaction to the Chantry blowing up was "Oh. Shit." This was immediately followed by "What?! Anders just killed Sebastian! What's the protocol when one of your companions offs another one? Have we covered this before in a video game?" because I didn't realize Sebastian had left the Chantry voluntarily for the first time since Act 1 and was standing right there, until he started with the Big No over Elthina. Finally, as Anders started rapping his staff on the ground and telling off Meredith and Orsino, I thought "Anders, you magnificent bastard... The Warden's going to be SO pissed when she gets back, she's going to yank Justice right out through your nose." Legionnaire Scout *talk* 15:10, September 4, 2011 (UTC)

Yea, I thought that I finally got rid of that self-rightous Christ...Andrastian sob. I HATE Sebastian and everything that he stands for. BTW Anders is awesome, and I would of LOVE to of been able to help blow up the Chantry.--NoRuleSix (talk) 01:19, September 5, 2011 (UTC)
Same here; before that part of the game I was somewhat content with Sebastian, but because of how he acted, I now regret ever had sided with him during the Last Straw on my first playthough. It is now my goal in DA2 to piss off that sappy little choir humper every chance I get, and then just laugh at the f**ker every time he preaches something completely stupid.
Sebastian: Don't go into the fade Hawke! That's how the magisters from the Imperium tainted the Golden city!
Hawke: Really Sebastian? I'm going in to save an innocent life, not purposely find the seat of the Maker and complain about his taste in furnishings while slitting my wrists and dirtying his perfectly clean heavenly floors with my blood! Sodd off. XD Sevarian10 (talk) 02:21, September 5, 2011 (UTC)Sevarian10
Well, don't mistake me - I actually liked Sebastian. I didn't have a quarrel with the character concept or depiction until Anders got his Vengeance on and got all Unibomber up in the Chantry. Then, I got annoyed. I, personally, don't like ultimatums. And what an ultimatum. It was another sign of the game being on rails in a way, and I (a little like Anders, I suppose) rebelled. While the initial thought that Sebastian had been killed in the explosion made me sad, I was annoyed by the fridge logic/horror of his DLC package and how it underscored the Champion's reactionary role in the whole saga.

Should have heard the slew of profanity that came from my mouth when I seen that. It was all good though. Was along the lines of "wtf...that was f*****g awesome". Followed by a "I wanna do that". There was also a "You sob didn't tell me. We could have made a bigger boom if I would have known"...Emmalee (talk) 18:39, September 4, 2011 (UTC)
