Well, if you're a mage, I'd say become a knight-enchanter and enjoy being OP. In the normal difficulty setting I fought a dragon solo just fine...it took a while... but it was done. The knight-enchanters light saber (see what i did there?) does a nice amount of damage, with the passive abilities you'll keep regaining a bunch of your barrier back with each slice, when things get too hairy, fade cloak into them for the nice 100% damage, usually replenishing your barrier. I'm like 80+ hours into the game, and I'd say that I've probably done 75% of the quests, give or take. My main character has just recently only turned level 19. I'm nowhere near ready to fight dragons. Is there some point in the game where you start going up levels like quickly? Feel like its going to take forever to reach the point you need to in order to beat the game. Am i missing something?--MISCRO (talk) 23:19, December 30, 2014 (UTC)

I wouldn't say you're missing something. My character is level 20, I'm about 65 hours into the game and I've defeated 4 dragons so far. The highest Dragon in the game is level 23 so you'll just have to grind to get to a high level for that fight. I think you just need to choose a good team to take with you to kill dragons. I usually take Vivienne, Varic, and Cassandra when I'm going to battle dragons. Vivienne does good damage to dragons with her being a Knight Enchanter. I've upgraded Bianca for Varric to where he does a couple hundred damage each shot, and I take Cassandra so she can use her Focus to give everyone Guard. It usually takes me 10-20 minutes to defeat a dragon. The Dread Wolf 23:47, December 30, 2014 (UTC)

The interval between leveling up seems constant in the game. By your level you should have at least encountered the Fereldan frostback in the Hinterlands. She's only lvl 13. Bring The Iron Bull along on your first dragon kill.

The game's final boss is lvl 23. The game recommends the final mission for you be between lvl20-23.--Ravenclock (talk) 00:21, December 31, 2014 (UTC)

You should be able to take down any dragon that is your level, or a level below you. If you are 19 you should have no problem with the dragon in Hinterlands. My level 23 rogue utterly destroyed the level 23 dragon in Emprise du Lion. Stealth + Hidden Blades = 20,000 damage and if I got it with combo of my Hidden Blades masterwork perk..add another 20,000. I found 2 mages, 1 rogue, 1 shield warrior worked great. Make sure your mages do not have a staff that does damage the dragon is resistant to.--Elshiro (talk) 00:30, December 31, 2014 (UTC)

Are you a mage or something else? First thing to do is to respect your mage or mages to represent the dragons elemental weakness. Plus Elemental resistant gear. I really recommend either 2 mages and 2 warriors, or a dual wielding rogue, 2 warriors and a mage. I like to a tank i.e. Cassandra/Blackwall and Iron Bull for power. Cassandra's guard can keep them focused on her while people do damage. As they said earlier though, the Dragons in the Hinterlands, Crestwood, the Exalted Plains and the Emerald Graves should be more than capable for you to beat. User:JoKr

A dual wield rogue with dragon runes in a maxed out crafted dagger, with Bull (high damage + dragon rune), Viviene (Knight enchanter is great against dragons as well as whatever elemental damage is opposite the dragon type) and really whoever else will murder every dragon in game by level 15 or so if you as the rogue stay underneath the dragon. Even a higher level dragon. I think I killed every dragon but one by level 17 in game. Only one caused me a problem, the farthest one in whatever area had the three dragons. And now the answer you've been waiting for. You can face the dragons on any level. The key is strategy. Just focus on damaging the two front legs. When you do, the dragon will fall forward and there will be about 20 seconds in which to do damage. Each injury also presents about 5 seconds to do more damage. Use shield warriors to block projectiles. Barrier juggle using two mages to support the warriors. Have Fade Step ready to move the mages out of danger. Use the regen potions first, and the health potions only if extremely low on health or if all regens are gone. Pause and go frequently. Focus your fire on a single target at a time, but root any other targets also. I beat the Fereldan Frostback on level 12 on Nightmare. Believe it! (talk) 07:21, December 31, 2014 (UTC)

you can always nuke her with Cole's Mark of Death/Doom followed by Sera's Thousand Cuts.--Iddawiki (talk) 15:15, December 31, 2014 (UTC)

The dragons are a joke with any archer. Mark of doom or death/stealth/hidden blades and repeat. Also, spread your guys out so they are not standing close to eachother as some of the dragons use spells which will cause massive damage if your guys connect. You will crit for about 14k (without dragon ruins/T4 weapon mats) if you have the bow of thorns and max the damage output/critical damage up. Go to the hissing wastes and hit up the tombs and get best weapon plans in the game/armor plans from the canyon (other than the staff which comes from Iron Bulls quest) and you will rape everything. I have recorded videos of me taking the Hinterlands dragon down on the Xbox version in a matter of seconds at level 14 with the above combo, other dragons take longer, but its the same thing. Blackwall/Solas/Dorian are who I use and, I am on nightmare. Level 19 you are more than ready to obliterate the first 4 dragons. --Seventk (talk)
