Wades Superior Dragon Armors are one of the most powerful armors in the intire game, and offers the best Fire resistance by giving 70% resistance right of the bat, and that is 5% lower then 75% the cap for elemental resistances, and requires less strength to wear then other armors of the same type.

Now on to how to acually get your hands on the danged armor, first of all your gonna need 5 units of drake scales, they can be found in the carverns where you fight the Cult of Andraste, just keep on exploring till you find and kill all five Drakes and loot their corpses, once that is done make sure you get a spirit healer with revive into your party, trust me your gonna need it. Once that is done keep on going as normal till you meet Kolgrim, now this is where tings get annoying, you see in order to get the Dragon Armor you can't side with the cult, so just pick a fight and get it over with, once Kolgrim & Co are dead loot Kolgrims Corpse and grab the horn you find, then head up on the Mountain Plateau and keep going till you are standing on the sulfurus rocks.

OK, now before you do something you'll most likely regret let's talk strategy, id suggest bringing Wynne with atleast the second skill in Spirit Healer, and 2 tanks, 1 of which are preferably Shale since he is immune to grab attacks, set Wynne to use Revive on any knocked out party member as the tactic with the highest priorety, also it would help you alot if you make Wynne a blood mage so you don't have to worry about mana running out (set her to activate the Blood Magic ability once her mana drops below 10%) once that is dealt with make sure both your tanks are using items that grant high ammounts of HP regen while in combat and have a high Fire resistance as Andraste aint gonna hold back on ya. The Second Tank can be whomever you want, just make sure said tank has a weapon that gives extra damage of some element other then Fire or Lightning, I would also suggest using Spirit Crystals with Shale since Spirit Damage ignores a huge ammount of Armor while also boosting Shales stats.

Once you have selected your 3 Party Members go to the said plateau save your game and use the horn then scatter as the first thing that's gonna happen are Andraste Dive Bombing you, she is quite literally gonna come crashing down just about directly on ya, causing knockdown and quite alot of damage, her attacks are depending on where you or your allies are attacking from, if you attack from the side she is more likely to use her Buffet Skill, you you attack from up front she will either claw you with a paw, bite you, breath fire or do her most powerful attack, a Grab attack on 1 character, if Andraste manages to grab a character you can kiss it goodbye, cuss even on Easy Mode that bite attack were capable of dishing out over 689 damage, that was the total HP of my main character that were grabbed, and the caracter was at full HP thanks to Wynnes Clensing Aura. If you attack from behind your most likely gonna cause Andraste to use a Tail Sweep attack that will knock you down, all in all this battle are pretty much the same as batteling the Archdemon, but without backup from either side, and no super breath from Andraste, aprart from that it's pretty much the same deal damage wise.

Once Andraste are dead loot her corpse and be ready to gape because Andraste has an insane ammount of loot on her, all in all I needed over 50 units in my backpack just to get it all, one of the many items in her corpse are the Dragon Scales, grab them and travel to Denerim and enter Wades Emporium, there talk to Herren and enter his store, and buy all that you need from him, but be sure to keep atleast 30 Gold Soverigns, once that is done speak to Herren about the Drake scales and proceed to make the normal and Supperior versions (10 and 20 gold respectively) once that is done speak to Wade about the Dragon Scales and he will be in 7th heaven, Herren on the other hand won't, at any rate Wade will offer you a choise of 3 items, a Medium Dragon Leather Armor a Heavy Dragon Scale Armor or the massive Dragonbone Plate armor make your pick and it will be done in seconds, enjoy your new armor, also after you have your dragon armor you will no longer be welcome as a customer in Wades Emporium due to Herren's newfound hatred of your main Character. The armor offer an insane Defence when Compared to other Armors of the Same type, and with less of a requirement it's a good choise, especially in the last battle against the Archdemon, seriously if you used the Dwarf Noble Origin combine the Dragonbone Plate with the Aeducan Shield and maxed Shield skills and you will be a walking fortress, when the fire resistance dosn't 0 out the defence will take care off making you in effect immune to fire damage, and you also get an unnatural ability to resist spell effects, well in my experience atleast.

Well I can say from my own experince that you don't need money for the dragon armor itself, Wade will craft it for free, you only need to have him craft the drakeskin armor and the his second set of drakeskin armor and then just let him know u have a dragon scale.  I crafted mine of free.  I did pay 10 extra for the first set of drakeskin and 20 for the second set but the Dragonbone Plate cost me nothing.  Then I just had to walk around with it for about 2 days til I lvled up enough for me to be able to wear it.

Thanks for the info, the reason I was a little unsure was that I got the dragon armor 2 days prior to writing and I got the armor at 4:30 in the morning, that'll teach me -^_^-

Also Dragonbone Plate gives as said 70% resistance to Fire, ad the Corruption Helmet you find on 1 of the Generals near the endgame and you'll be shrugging off the Archdemon's attacks like an Iron Golem shrugs off arrows, provided you don't get hit by his physical attacks to much that is

Cult Alignment I am playing on the Xbox 360, but I sided with the cult to gain passage, and then turned on them after completing the urn quest. You can still obtain this armor regardless of who you side with, you just have to fight "Andraste". If you side with the cult you can fight Andraste by banging the gong that is found at the exit of the ruined temple. I'm not sure if you have to betray the cult or not, only tried it one way, but I was still able to fight the dragon (tough battle!) and obtain all the materials needed for getting the superior dragon armor. Does anyone know if paying for enhanced drakeskin armor increases the quality of the superior dragon armor. I only paid for the second set of drakeskin, but I didn't notice any stat increase. It should be noted that you don't have to craft both of the Drake Scale Armor in order to get the Dragon Armor crafted, it only requires Herren to craft 1 set of Drake Scale Armor in order for him to be skilled enough to craft the Dragon Armor.

Also, it is not required to have a Spirit Healer, or any healer at all for that matter, in your party in order to kill the High Dragon provided you use the appropriate tactics. The High Dragon has a very predictable attack pattern and, further more, is very vulnerable to Frost attacks. Using Morrigan alone, you can alternate the usage of Cone of Cold and Winter's Grasp in order to prevent the Dragon from using all of its special attacks. If your PC also happens to be a Mage, or you have Wynne, you can bring two Mages and lock the Dragon down 100% without giving it any time to attack any of your characters. The important thing to remember is that Winter's Grasp will only freeze the High Dragon for approximately one second, if that, and mostly useful in being used as an interrupt against the High Dragon's abilities. Once you see the name of the ability flash above the High Dragon, using Winter's Grasp will stop her from using that ability but place it on the AI's priority cooldown. While locking down the High Dragon with Cone of Cold, do try to remember to keep your other party members out of the effect. Even on the Easy setting it will still freeze any of your party members just as it will the High Dragon - although they will not suffer any damage.

The High Dragon is actualy a bit of a pushover. I was lucky as having an arcane mage as my main when doing this, however any character with range can beat it with the use of only a handful of potions. Since the dragon will only land in certain areas, you can position yourself in between two places it lands and launch bolts from a staff or bow to kill it. May take a good 30 or so minutes (not entirely sur ehow long I took since I did it with wintersbreath on a high magic mage) but it's one of the easier bosses as far as I'm concerned since there's only 1 enemy and it will spend a good deal of time hopping around as you shoot bolts into it's rear (literally). The only time you will take damage is when it decides to launch a fireball at you, or pulls you in and smacks you with its claws right away (I suppose it may be possible for it to grab you and use its 'instant death' move, but I don't know if it would even have enough time to do that after pulling you in, as it barely has time to attack) Regardless, I managed to finish it off like that with ease after giving up on ressurecting my party just to have them die over and over, no reloading at all. Although I did do this on 'easy mode' (main char as an arcane mage on Normal) so I had near 300 HP with 40 armour to be able to survive even a few hits with minimal damage, taking at most 60 after being pulled in; although I doubt it made a signifigant differance other than reducing potion usage.

I didnt pay for either set (of Drakeskin) and I dont remember seeing a difference on the second, even though it was Wade's 'Improved' set. Have seen sites stating you have to tip on the making of both to see the difference on the 2nd, not sure. But I have a party about to have a little talk with the Cult Leader, will confirm stats vs the two (paid and unpaid)... Ok so I went to see Wade about the Drake scales. Did not pay a single penny for either set and there is a difference: All the superior items have increased FR (Fire Resist)and an additional +1 to Dex on all pieces.Exyll 19:06, December 4, 2009 (UTC)
