@rhpb. I think Alistair asked Leliana about her "femaleness" because he wanted to ask her about love advice. It doesn't really have anything to do with old fashion views about her being a woman. He's just kind of awkard and did not start the conversation off right.RhiannonCousland (talk) 15:21, September 12, 2010 (UTC)

I know what do you mean, but this is medieval era and in that era, most women were seen only as prostitutes and wenches. Men in that era thought that being saved by a woman is the same as being saved by a ... a Nug! I do find it discriminating, but it's how the women in that era was always treated... And that's why I always find fun playing as a woman. I fight better then most men, they should all fear me and become my bitches. --Rocketai (talk) 15:27, September 12, 2010 (UTC)

I have been thinking about this for some time. Why do they have so much gender equality in Dragon Age, I know it is for BW not to be offensive but I believe that it limits the gameplay. Wouln’t it be more fun if they had had a real midlevel view about what a girl is an what she is not? In all the origins there is explanation till why our girl would be different then the norm, but think about the NPC’s reactions when they find out that the hero in the shining armour that saved them was in fact a women?

Oh my honour as a man have been destroyed, how can I ever return to my men saying I have been saved by a women, I should have just died at the hands of the darkspawns”, one random encounter could have gone.

This would also make Loghains action seem more plausible as "a women can't rule"

Anyway I want to hear what you think? Do you miss this kind of discrimination, or do you have other minorities, special groups that you feel should have been orcistrated?-rphb- (talk) 14:37, September 12, 2010 (UTC)

I know! Subjugation of the lower classes (minorities and women) are awesome. WHY ARE THEY NOT IN THIS GAME! I'm just joking. : ) I think that Dragon Age was made to reach a wide variety of gamers. Men and women, gay and straight, etc. I also think that a few times in the game that besides the one you pointed out, some people are NOT used to or don't feel comfortable with a women fighting. Sten is very much againt the notion of a woman being a warrior. He even goes on to say the the women in the group are not real women BECAUSE they are warriors. I think that he has this conversation with every woman in the group; questioning their womanhood since they fight. So if you are looking for a bit of authencity of the medevil days. I think it's there.RhiannonCousland (talk) 14:56, September 12, 2010 (UTC)

I believe it is because Gender inequality isnt a constant in the history of mankind, Like a projectile weapon or the contemplation of existance,it rises for many reasons but I dont believe it is an inevitability and perhaps thats why. People who are homosexual for instance today in the united states are only recently being treated with more equality (though I still wouldnt call it equal) even though in ancient Greece homosexuality wasnt frowned or smiled upon it was just something certain people did and the general idea was that it was okay and few people cared to debate about it like they do today.--Gdubs (talk) 15:05, September 12, 2010 (UTC)

He's not the only one, remember when Alastir asked Leliana if she was a women? -rphb- (talk) 15:16, September 12, 2010 (UTC)
@ Gdubs In ancient Greece women were more subjugated and ill treated then anywhere else in the history of man as far as I know (some historians might be able to find a worse example but still) Women weren’t allowed to go outdoor at all. They were owned by a man, first their father, then later to the man he choose to sell her too. They were considered as “things” of reproduction and true love only something that could exist between men.
Women have had it much better in other ages but while it have gone up and down, their status have always been between the two extremes of complete subjugations and complete equality, we have never seen the opposite, female superiority. This is due to the very simple fact that women a physically inferior to men.-rphb- (talk) 15:16, September 12, 2010 (UTC)
