Okay! So Mike Laidlaw, the man we all know and love... tweeted today: "Wired and Game Informer both have notes on the Wired interview. Follower armor is confirmed, though how that works exactly is for later." So yea... what does everyone think of that? I do not think it is said in the interviews that it is confirmed it seems its just in this tweet. In the interview they talked about how in the next Dragon Age they want to put everything that was great from both games into it. They also talked about Skyrim alot and how they might incorporate a more open world type of game... yea... Thoughts? These are the links: http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2011/12/dragon-age-3/

1. Follower armor - great, thank you BioWare, if this turns out to be true. 2. More open world game - no, plaese. DA:O was just fine. Better to focus on the story, than making a sandbox. I've played Skyrim for a week, and, honestly, I'm done cosplaying a SAM turret and knocking the 9000-th dragon out of the sky. Keep your Skyrim out of my Dragon Age. -Algol- (talk) 07:39, December 21, 2011 (UTC)

Mike posted a few months ago about follower armors herethat's as much as we've heard about his ideas of making it work so far, though the team has probably tweaked it quite a bit since then. Dragon Age does need a wider scope, though I doubt they will go full scale open world, possibly just big cities and environments in comparison to Denerim, probably the size of Kirkwall, but just more of them, think cities like Markarth and Riften, they have a nice artistic designs and along with that nice big open areas like in MotA and the Kocari Wilds. At least that's what I could see them doing. I doubt they'll be taking any combat or first person ideas from Skyrim. Probably some crafting ideas from Skyrim too, who knows? For the follower armors, I hope that they allow armors to change appearances as well as stats. Laidlaw was talking about each follower needing a distinct look, and therefore giving players only the option of changing stats and not appearances. I feel that this is still too restrictive. If I give my companion Massive Juggernaut Plate, I don't want to see them wearing Thin Cloth Robes.

I really don't know what he's talking about with "visual identity". I could distinguish Morrigan from Leliana just fine in DA:O, thanks very much. I enjoy giving companions different equipment at times because I think it fits the story. Bioware should give the user more control and trust players to make decisions for themselves. Loz.neo (talk) 10:38, December 21, 2011 (UTC): Hmm, the idea of follower armor is an interesting one. While I liked giving my companions different sets of armor in Origins, them having their own in DA2 was a nice change. Being able to change appearance and stats would definitely be the best of both worlds here. WRT the Skyrim thing: DEAR GOD, PLEASE DON'T MAKE THEDAS A SANDBOX LIKE SKYRIM, PLEASE! Honestly, that's the main thing that gets on my nerves about Skyrim. A little bit of expansion's fine, but please, don't let me wander for HOURS through Thedas - I like the map styles in Origin, bring those back please! I think the scope we have at the moment is fine - well, the scope in Origins anyway, it was just big enough that there was plenty to explore without feeling like "Oh dear, if I go this way WHAT WILL I MISS OUT ON???" which is what I feel like with Skyrim all the time. Regardless, this will be interesting to follow. I really hope we don't get a Skyrim clone though...

Cool about follower armor, but the thing about skyrim... I am sorry everyone but I would rip Dragon Age's heart out and throw it in the trash for any elder scrolls game. Sorry. This doesnt mean I want Dragon age to be Elder Scrolls though. Look on the bright side though! EA is probably thinking "Hey Skyrim is an amazing RPG. Lets stop making Dragon Age look like Madden NFL and make it look like Skyrim." Thats better then what they were doing before right? Right? Crimpycracker (talk) 23:23, December 21, 2011 (UTC)

Wrong. They shouldn't make Dragon Age look like Skyrim, they should make Dragon Age look like Dragon Age. Personally, I don't see why people are so obsessed with Skyrim these days, that game bored me to near-death. -Algol- (talk) 23:36, December 21, 2011 (UTC)
Sorry I was being sarcastic on the last part. I honestly want Dragonrim as much as you do, but I'm just saying I would rather get Sky Age then NBA Dragon Battlefield. Crimpycracker (talk) 23:58, December 21, 2011 (UTC)
I do not want Dragonrim or Sky Age, or anything like that. Mainly because I didn't like Skyrim and I do not wan't any implementations of it into Dragon Age. I do not want Dragon Age losing its unique identity because of that. What I want, is the next Dragon Age returning to Origins style. Companion armor is one step of many, but it is still important. -Algol- (talk) 00:20, December 22, 2011 (UTC)
EA is probably thinking "Hey Skyrim is an amazing RPG." - Not quite. EA is most likely probably thinking "HOLY SHIT LOOK AT THE SALES FIGURES I MEAN LOOK AT THEM!!!!1!!!" Dorquemada (talk) 14:18, December 22, 2011 (UTC)
Haha that makes more sense then what I put. And @algol, I know you dont want dragonrim, neither do I. That is why compared my want for it to yours. Crimpycracker (talk) 18:55, December 22, 2011 (UTC)

Many moons ago I suggested to Laidlaw/BioWare that if they are going to continue with unique apparel for companions then they should give us more to upgrade. eg Isabela starts out with her tunic, boots and gloves. I find some light armor fragments and gift them to her. She explains she can make use of this. Bam! Now she's crafted her left arm shoulder piece. Further if I find more light armor fragments I then can gift that. Now Isabela's shoulder piece, boots and gloves gets more intricate. Then I find some "fine red dwarven silks" and I gift those to Isabela. Now she has a different styled and different colored tunic. etc. etc. So what BioWare does is plan out the looks for each companion, you just can't gift anything, everything you can gift is planned and the look evolves with minor user preference changes (as in the color of silks given etc, the style of light armor fragments given etc). Essentially Isabela will always have that distinctive and unique style; her tits/ass hanging out tunic, a sash, a necklace, a shoulder piece, gloves, boots... but her look can vary and evolve depending on what you're giving her. Maybe her tunic is red, maybe her tunic has leather padding, maybe her shoulder piece is metal, maybe her shoulder piece is leather. etc etc Zambingo (talk) 17:39, December 22, 2011 (UTC)

Changeable companion armor? My hopes just got raised a bit. Now, for the aforementioned idea of Dragonrim........I'd rather not. Personally, I love Skyrim(4 characters & I've yet to finish one of them) & I think that it is a great game, but open world RPG is an Elder Scrolls thing. I agree with Algol on keeping Dragon Age along the lines of Origins, but.....well, I think it would be interesting to see what they take from Skyrim. If it's "Oh, you mean we can actually put effort into a game and make MORE money?" then that'll be fantastic. If it's "Dragon Age, as it is, sucks. Let's copy TES & fuse it with CoD for MASSIVE MULAH!!!!!!!!!!" then I quit. --CommanderCousland (talk) 17:47, December 22, 2011 (UTC)

Dragonrim could be a good thing, but I'll be damned if I want either Bioware or Bethesda to try it. Let some other publisher come out with a new series on that premise. ----Isolationistmagi 18:15, December 22, 2011 (UTC)

You guys seem to think that Bioware will now turn Dragon Age into a sort-of-Skyrim clone. That will never happen. What is likely to happen is them taking features, like the crafting system, and giving them a Dragon Age twist. By looking to Skyrim's open-world approach to gameplay, Bioware probably intend to make areas more expansive and worthy of exploration not just for sights but for loot as well. It would fit the Bioware style of game design. I am vehemently certain they would never make it open-world completely since we have heard from Mike Laidlaw directly that the area you have to play in will be large but not open world, like Origins but bigger. And finally... DRAGON AGE III WILL BE F***ING EPIC! Also guys, check out a thread I have on BSN about this, your participation would be appreciated.

I love both games. It really is like comparing apples and oranges, though. I really like Skyrim, because it allows me to be a sneaky archer, that snipes from a distance. I don't know about you guys, but I derive great pleasure from sending a well-placed arrow to someone's forehead. With multiple companions, sneaking is lame. It's a one or maybe two character way of playing, and I don't think bow users will ever get the type of experience from Dragon Age that they do from Elder Scrolls.

That said, I do miss all the witty banter that comes with Dragon Age. And, when I'm not in a sniping mood, I do like controlling the actions of my companions- which is lame in Skyrim by the way.

Unlike a few of the posters here, I would die for an open-world Dragon Age game. I love to wander. I love to explore. Skyrim has some absolutely wonderful scenery, whether out in a field, on a snowy mountain top, in a cave or in an ancient ruin. DA2 should be ashamed of itself, for its environments.

I want a "DragonRim" that incorporates Skyrim's open-world exploration, environments, crafting and archery, but everything else that is Dragon Age. That's all. LVTDUDE (talk) 01:08, December 23, 2011 (UTC)

I play Skyrim the same way - stealthily get to a vantage point, aim, kill the enemy before it sees you with a shot to the head, move to the next vantage point, repeat. Problem is, I play CoD exactly the same way, and it's a better FPS. I want a real RPG please. -Algol- (talk) 02:38, December 23, 2011 (UTC)
I sniped 5 or 6 guys from quite a distance the other day, while Erandur waited behind me. Once I killed them all, he said something along the lines of "That was damn impressive." I wanted to high-five him, but there was no high-five button... LVTDUDE (talk) 03:57, December 23, 2011 (UTC)
So... That relates to the topic how, exactly?-Algol- (talk) 06:01, December 23, 2011 (UTC)
Someone needs to use the feature to give Fenris a helmet, or else LVT will snipe him and then be told how impressive it was. Now, does anyone actually want to give him a helmet? ----Isolationistmagi 06:15, December 23, 2011 (UTC)
If that helmet helmet has a weakness, I will find it! And Algol, it only relates to the conversation in that we both mentioned sniping, and I thought it was cool moment. LVTDUDE (talk) 17:41, December 24, 2011 (UTC)
