Anora can't have kids. Alistair will have hard time having kids due to being Grey Warden. Now with being Fiona's on, do you think DAI will go into the monarch of Fereldan?--Dalish Arrow (talk) 19:16, July 30, 2014 (UTC)

Fergus Cousland maybe? Or another Civil War with the winner taking the throne. Also, was it ever confirmed that Anora cannot have children? I thought the game hinted just as much that it was Cailan who was infertile.--Liam Sionnach (talk) 19:22, July 30, 2014 (UTC)

It is very possible that Anora can have children. The only one who says she can't is Eamon, and I doubt he's a trained physician. It's nearly impossible for two Wardens to conceive a child together, but it might be easier for a Warden and a non-Warden to conceive one.

I would be surprised if they go into the issue in Inquisition, given that there were so many possibilities regarding who you could put on the throne in Origins. I.e. Anora married to Alistair; Anora married to the Warden; Anora not marrying anyone ever(as the epilogue states she doesn't marry if you don't pair her with the Warden or Alistair); Alistair married to the Warden; Alistair marrying some unknown woman in the future; Alistair never marrying. Too many possibilities to adequately address in my opinion. Kelcat (talk) 19:31, July 30, 2014 (UTC)

I think it's strongly hinted that neither monarch will be producing any heirs. It's how they can nullify yet respect your choice (your choice gets reduced to a couple of lines of dialog). Another civil war wouldn't surprise me, though it might feel a bit too soon to revisit such a storyline at this point in the timeline. Another possibility is the Landsmeet choosing a new monarch when it's time for a new one and no civil war breaks out. DAWUSS (talk) 19:34, July 30, 2014 (UTC)

I think that BioWare have deliberately given us a situation where the succession ends with whoever the Warden gives the throne to, be it Anora and/or Alistair, and the Cousland Warden. Why? Because (I think) the writers want to get to a situation where the monarch of Ferelden is one person, ie set in stone. Giving them the freedom to write about that monarch, and situations, story set ups et al, without worrying about character variances. In response to what the OP asked, I don't personally think this will be decided in DAI. It might, and I hope in a way it does. But the King of Ferelden is determined not by blood, (whatever Eamon insists) but whoever the Landsmeet choses. I think, given he's alive in every eventuality, that it'll be Furgus Cousland - Ferelden's most senior noblemen. Alexsau1991 (talk page) 19:45, July 30, 2014 (UTC)

Unclear. It was equally possible during the time that Cailan and Anora were together that Cailan was actually the one who could not conceive, as in our world (and I assume the DA humans work more or less the same way) it's statistically greater that men will be the infertile partner rather than their wives. So, if Alistair were to marry Anora, there might be a pretty good chance that even with him being a Warden, he could still conceive a child, assuming Anora likewise doesn't have difficulties of her own. I think they're pretty dead-set on finding a way to continue the Theirin line through any means necessary, even resorting to a deus ex if they must. To return to the original question, I think the real focus about Ferelden won't necessarily be "Who (is the ruler?) is the heir going to be?" and more "Will Ferelden continue to exist if certain events in Orlais play out in a particular faction's favour?" I'd like to think that Fergus Cousland or Teagan Guerrin will have a claim. Eamon is probably dead or something by now, but if he's alive i'd guess he's a contender too. Personally I saw Anora as a Queen Elizabeth I kinda figure. Albeit the virgin nature, so it's possible that she has no children. She married my warden but it's unlikely they had an offspring so I don't know if she got married after i went missing, but it's likely that she used that as an excuse not to marry again. I really think Ferelden has a major part to play in the series's future. That is if it continues. I think it will persist to be a country but I think if Gaspard gets the throne, we may be looking at another war which is unlikely to be seen in DAI. Lazare326 20:13, July 30, 2014 (UTC)

Magic can be used to help conceive a child, right? Magic is the answer to everything. I hope it stays as whatever option you choose, for now. We probably won't see a need for a different monarch for a fair while, I think. Vexed Forest (talk) 23:28, July 30, 2014 (UTC)
