Yeah, overall I sympathise with the Arishok. He's a good guy, as far as Qunari go. Fanatical, quite straightforward, blunt. As an Arishok should be, an exemplary Qunari. He is not unsympathisable in the situation he ended up in.The Ranged Man (talk) 21:49, September 28, 2011 (UTC)

I did like the guy, and I sympathized with his difficulty. I can respect how he handled the situation right up until he applied a double standard to how the vidithari elves should be treated, as opposed to how Seamus Dumar's murderer should be treated. That's about where it fell apart for me. I regretted having to kill him to resolve the issue, but the only other alternative was to give up Isabella. I've never rivaled Isabela - if I had, I'd be happy to cough her up. If you throw her to the Qun in a friend relationship it makes Hawke the worst kind of turd. Maybe I'll save that for my "Complete Disaster" play through where the only people left with Hawke are Sebastian and Varric at the end of Act 3. -- 23:41, September 28, 2011 (UTC)

I wouldn't want to live with the qunari, but I have some respect for them and their society (...though not as much when I found out what they did to their mages ;_;). All the Arishok wanted to do was go home, but he couldn't because of the relic. The qunari are fundamentally different people with different values, which is why I don't despise them or their way of life. Scary dudes, but to be honest, I would have just given them the relic (but not isabela) and sent them on their merry way...not that that would have been possibly, thanks to Petrice for adding to the tension between the quanari and the chantry.

A society who's very foundation dictates that they either convert or kill those outside of it? Not one bit, they at least have the restraint to not enforce such when it is detrimental to their current existence but the instant they get the upper hand they will try to enforce it and we have seen them do just that in the second game. Neither do I have any sympathy for the arishok himself, many of the qunari under him left the order entirely to become mercenaries/bandits but he refuses to consider defeat and leave even once even though it leads to his own and the rest his mens destruction.174.45.9.40 (talk) 04:35, September 28, 2011 (UTC)

Yes, I do have sympathy for him without agreeing with what he does. One of the things I liked about DA2 was playing a situation where you think if only? If only I could have got Isabella and persuaded her to hand over the relic - if only I could have killed Petrice before she shit-stirred all that hatred against the Quanari - I'm not doing another bash against the game's lack of choices you don't always get choices in real-life and even in Origins there were things you couldn't do (you couldn't save Harrowmont's life if you picked Bhelen as king for example). I didn't agree with the Arishok and he could have handled things better but I understood why he did want he did and wished there could have been another way to handle things in character.

I overall agree with the qun, so I sort of agree with what the Arishok did. He could've handled a slight bit better in some minor cases, but overall he did what had to be done.Noctarius (talk) 10:33, September 28, 2011 (UTC)

- The Qunari are harsh, brutal, unforgiving--but it's their way of life, it has order (good or bad, it's subjective) and the Arishok had no intention of forcing it on Kirkwall..but then he spent all those years away from his home, and he saw a society that he perceived to be dirty (he was right in some ways), and he probably went insane thinking that he was going to spend the rest of his life in Kirkwall because he couldn't get the relic. 110.55.129.135 (talk) 11:08, September 28, 2011 (UTC)

I do sort of sympathize with the Arishok, but just him, since he could't go home and was forced to stay in a place he detests. Although I have no respect for the Qunari and their platonic hyppocrital society, I Kinda feel bad for the guy. Te Shukalaryc Mand'alorFile:JaingHead.svg 17:49, September 28, 2011 (UTC)

Arishok is just the right man (kossith?) for the job. He fervently follows the Qun, he's good at military planning (comparatively at least, but possibly the best commander in the game, considering the disaster that the final battle was and the insanity of both commanders there), and he's a solid fighter to boot. He's on a botched relic recovery mission, which was promising to be a breeze but turned into a grueling search thanks to Isabela. He was forced to stay in a city whose culture and structure he despised due to his beliefs, and finally turned to setting up the structure he believed was superior when it all became too much. And if not for Hawke, he would've succeeded, and even as he didn't, he delivered a crippling blow to the city by killing the viscount.
