If a Dalish elf is going to be a companion in DAI, what would you like this one to be?

I wish the elf was an archer or a close combat rogue, I'm done with Dalish mages and rest of annoying repetitivity. My Inquisitor is going to be an elf, so it would be good to have relationship with own kind.78.8.156.250 (talk) 07:19, September 23, 2013 (UTC) Just call me Dalish fan

Because elven archer isn't an overused trope played straight. And we've never had a dual wielding elf, let alone rogue in Dragon Age. 14.201.65.88 (talk) 12:31, September 23, 2013 (UTC)

We had Zevran and Ariane as dual wielding elves. If a Dalish companion in DAI is going to appear, then I can imagine his/her rivalry with Varric about archery.78.8.156.250 (talk) 12:39, September 23, 2013 (UTC)
You really did not get my point at all. At all. 14.201.65.88 (talk) 15:53, September 23, 2013 (UTC)
Then write how I was supposed to understand it.78.8.156.250 (talk) 16:14, September 23, 2013 (UTC)
There's thousands of Elf Archers in fiction. Zevran and Ariane are Dual Wielding, Close Combat Elf Rogues. Hence, those things you just asked for to avoid things being repetitive are, in fact, repetitive. That is how you're supposed to understand it. --NinjaChocobo925 (talk) 16:31, September 23, 2013 (UTC)
There are thousands of Elven Archers in fiction because that is how they were originally envisioned. I'd enjoy an Elven Warrior, but the fact of the matter is: Elves are normally archers because this is what they excel at. Overused or not, it is simply how they are. Being disappointed at the lack of Elven Sword-n-Boards or Two-Handers would be like being disappointed at not seeing Dwarven long-jumpers in the Thedas Olympics. If you read LOTR though there are elves that don't fight like that, like Glorfindel for example. --Sandals sandals (talk) 08:25, September 26, 2013 (UTC)
So, because Tolkien at one point thought it'd be neat to have elves be good at archery, we should keep it that way forever? At one point it's going to be a cliche, it may already be even.--Agent047 (talk) 20:50, September 25, 2013 (UTC)
In the old old myths of the British Isles, Elves were considered archers. I said nothing of Tolkien, but Elves have been envisioned to be mischevious (rogues) and normally using bows/arrows. Tolkien used the ancient myth of Elves as a starting point in creating what we now call "Tolkien-esque Elves." Even now when someone here finds an old arrow-head, if they remember the myths, they call them 'elf-shots' or 'elf-arrows.' Its part of myth, and maybe I'm a purist, but that is the only large-scale representation I'm willing to accept. Sure there are exceptions: Fenris, Zevran, Ariane, Tallis, Possibly The Warden, but for the most part, Elves are archers. I'm not against the idea of it being changed, but it'd have to be done well. Myth about elves are even older. Vikings believed there are 9 realms, one of them belongs to humans and another one to elves.78.8.12.125 (talk) 18:40, September 26, 2013 (UTC)
Okay, so I was wrong about the source of elves being archers (though elves did become more popular because of Tolkien right?) but I still think that is no reason to keep portraying elves the same. Don't you get tired of elves really quickly then if you only like them one specific way? I'd have hard time staying interested in them.--Agent047 (talk) 21:06, September 26, 2013 (UTC)
I'd be satisfied if the elven companion had own unique fighting style like spear fighting.78.8.98.25 (talk) 21:04, September 25, 2013 (UTC)

May be they give us Josmael Elnawawi (talk) 14:45, September 23, 2013 (UTC)

Josamael is a fanfic character and DLC with Tallis was a fanservise of Felicia Day.78.8.98.25 (talk) 21:02, September 25, 2013 (UTC)
