While I doubt they'd do another Dalish, I wouldn't mind if he/she could romance a human. As long as they made reference to the fact that the elf character feels conflicted about their duty vs their love. I mean hell, for all the complaints about Dragon Age 2 that game at least made the Dalish Elf feel conflicted about romancing a human, the Dalish Warden just goes 'lol why not'. --TheRageMage (talk) 10:29, December 14, 2013 (UTC)TheRageMage

:Remember, it is very difficult for Wardens to have children due to the Taint. The moment Mahariel was tainted by the Eluvian, their chances of reproducing became next to nil, rendering moot the big reason for a romantic relationship with another elf of the opposite gender. Merrill did not have this 'get-out-of-parenthood-free card', leading to the conflict. Unless a Dalish companion is a Warden, which is possible but unlikely, as Duncan said Dalish are rare among the Wardens, then the same conflict would apply.--TheFereldenMagister (talk) 18:59, December 14, 2013 (UTC)

@Thehumanelder I'm not sure what you mean by a Elven/Human relationship is possible. Personality doesn't have much to do with it. Elven and Human children appear completely Human and for a race that depends on each other for day to day survival, romancing and reproducing with a Human is only putting the Elves one step closer to extinction.

@TheRageMage I'd rather have a Elf go with Duty. It's more realistic for he DA universe. That's not to say I don't love a great romantic epic lol, but that's what fanfiction is for.

@TheFereldenMagister It's not completely impossible for a female Dalsih, City, or Circle Elf to have a child with Zevran. Now a Warden on Warden attempt at a baby? That would be a miracle child truly lol. It's difficult for a Warden/Non-Warden, but not impossible. I always wanted to romance Fenris and Merrill (and stop her from her craziness lol), but I never could because Hawke was Human. At least I can be an Elf again in DA:I, thank the Creators, the Stone, and the Maker lol! --Jamirflyd (talk) 21:35, December 15, 2013 (UTC)

To tell the truth, I've always been fascinated with the magical knowledge of the elven, especially the arcane warrior style, it would be something new to add this specific specialization to a companion, even more, then we won't have to follow to overused patter of elven archers like in other games, and we won't be as annoyed about having a mage, for it won't follow the patter of either circle related or blood magic use. --Sambrion (talk) 18:55, December 16, 2013 (UTC)Sambrion

If a Dalish elf is going to be a companion in DAI, what would you like this one to be?

I wish the elf was an archer or a close combat rogue, I'm done with Dalish mages and rest of annoying repetitivity. My Inquisitor is going to be an elf, so it would be good to have relationship with own kind.78.8.156.250 (talk) 07:19, September 23, 2013 (UTC) Just call me Dalish fan

Because elven archer isn't an overused trope played straight. And we've never had a dual wielding elf, let alone rogue in Dragon Age. 14.201.65.88 (talk) 12:31, September 23, 2013 (UTC)

We had Zevran and Ariane as dual wielding elves. If a Dalish companion in DAI is going to appear, then I can imagine his/her rivalry with Varric about archery.78.8.156.250 (talk) 12:39, September 23, 2013 (UTC)
You really did not get my point at all. At all. 14.201.65.88 (talk) 15:53, September 23, 2013 (UTC)
Then write how I was supposed to understand it.78.8.156.250 (talk) 16:14, September 23, 2013 (UTC)
There's thousands of Elf Archers in fiction. Zevran and Ariane are Dual Wielding, Close Combat Elf Rogues. Hence, those things you just asked for to avoid things being repetitive are, in fact, repetitive. That is how you're supposed to understand it. --NinjaChocobo925 (talk) 16:31, September 23, 2013 (UTC)
There are thousands of Elven Archers in fiction because that is how they were originally envisioned. I'd enjoy an Elven Warrior, but the fact of the matter is: Elves are normally archers because this is what they excel at. Overused or not, it is simply how they are. Being disappointed at the lack of Elven Sword-n-Boards or Two-Handers would be like being disappointed at not seeing Dwarven long-jumpers in the Thedas Olympics.
