Hi, I was wondering what people thought of using Archery (If played the demo / If used it in the Demo). Personally, I though it was powerful! But something that got me was the step back from Origins. Not in the terms of playing, I preferred archery on DA2 compared to DA:O but I noticed the lack of a quiver, were Hawke would pull arrows out of his / her backside. I remember the lack of a quiver when certain arrows were selected on Origins but in DA2, theres no quiver at all.

I was wondering if anyone else noticed this or knows if it will be like that in the final game.

Thanks, Kyle.

I actually enjoyed using archery in the demo. It was fun watching Hurlocks explode in a fountain of gore when I killed them, and OMG is the raining arrow (not sure if that's what it's called) ability made of pure awesome. I just made my rouge and Varric use it during the Hayder battle and he was just slaughtered lol. I also liked that if an enemy got into melee range of my rouge he/she automatically pulled out a dagger instead of just continuing to slowwwllly shoot and hope for the best. I loved being an archer in DAO, but this demo just made me love it even more.

As for the quiver, now that you mention it, there actually wasn't any quiver when I played either. I also don't recall seeing the arrow pouch on Hawke's back either. But most likely, what you saw in the demo may be what you will see in the actual game, since the demo is the near equivalent to the final game. I think it would be cool if you could personalize your quiver. Have it change to match the bow that you are using. Just a thought. Anyway, I love being a bowwoman. I thought that it was awesome when the enemies came too close and you automatically switch to melee weapons. I wonder if you get to customize your melee weapons or if it is like the murder knife. The more playthroughs that I do the more I love this game. Can't wait. Patience is NOT my virtue.--KarlGambolputty (talk) 02:57, February 24, 2011 (UTC)

One thing I noticed about archery was that on PC the archer wont close to the mob when he goes out of range. This was rather annoying seeing as there seems to be some sort of knock-back effect on arrow hitting the enemy. When I was attacking the archers in the Kirkwall part for example, Hawke would stop attacking with the bow a after a couple of hits because they got knocked out of range.Devmir (talk) 03:22, February 24, 2011 (UTC)

The exact same thing happens to a mage if an enemy is too far out of range or, in my case, when I used Firestorm. The only class that I saw that doesn't have this problem is the warrior class. It was really quite annoying since when they were out of range, Hawke would just do some sort of pose instead that caused you to temporarily not move, which could possibly get you killed. I guess the thinking for the mage and archer is that they want you to use your skills more to CC & such so your are not just standing and shooting. Will just have to see if an extended skill tree as you lvl alleviates this. Edit: I think there will be quivers in the final game unless they changed it from the preview build shown in the Game Trailers Video "Preview" @1:10 Devmir (talk) 04:02, February 24, 2011 (UTC)

I also feel that out of all the classes the archery rogue definatly seems the most overpowered BFEL (talk) 16:00, February 24, 2011 (UTC)

Don't get me wrong, I loved archery on it. Although, I would have really loved a quiver and for the bow not to cut through the male Hawke's shoulder as he runs (out of combat). But yeah, it's awesome, and I hope there is a quiver in the final version as the demo isn't representative of the final version. Being a fan of archery in most RPG games, I have to admit, the archery on DA2 had me... Disappointed... because of lack of quiver. I agree that it's pretty badass, making those darkspawn explode in gore and limbs, but it still fell pretty off... I stopped playing as an archer in the middle of the demo and made a mage and damn! That was badass. But like the above poster commented, maybe the quiver will appear in the final version of the game. A lot of things were locked. —Rocketai (Ho there! There was a lot of stuff missing. for example, there was a problem with drawing a weapon (Sword & Shield) as it would go into 2 handed weapon style then sort out, but that is sorted in the full game. And I must agree, mage was prettu damn cool. (I should probably start signing things) -Kyle
