The elves look like cartoonish mannequins with dumbo ears... Fenris is a stick man with eyes... How could Isabella and the human characters look so great and the Elves are so freaky looking I can barely stand to look at them?—Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.2.96.196 (talkcontribs)

Personally I find that Fenris is one of the better looking elves, poor Zevran is unrecognizable. --Heulwen (talk) 22:38, July 27, 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, I didn't care much for the appearance of any of the cameos... Allister was close I suppose but like you said, Zevron must have had plastic surgery.Fenris and Merrill weren't too bad but still looked out of proportion or something. Definitely different artists used. The elves in general though looked cartoonish at best and somewhat sickly and homely... --Sweeper777 (talk) 01:18, July 28, 2011 (UTC)

Just another case of them going against the old "don't mess with a good thing". Though I think that fenris was probably one of the less stupid looking elves and if it's any consolation the elves from the anime(ugg) look less obnoxious as well so maybe that is a good sign for the next game.174.45.9.40 (talk) 05:38, July 28, 2011 (UTC)

If Link and Zelda from the Legend of Zelda series got dumped into the world of Kirkwall, they probably wouldn't look so out of place with Dragon Age II rendition of elves. (VicGeorge2K9 (talk) 22:28, July 28, 2011 (UTC))

I was hostile to how Zevran looked at first too, but he was on the run for seven long years having to fight for his life constantly. He didn't look bad as far as character design goes, and anyone who says he's ubnrecognizable is a jackass. He looks like an older version of his Origins self that's had to deal with bullshit for a longtime. But I generally agree on the looks of elves. No Merill, Fenris, Zevran, or the Keeper though.HomelyDrugAddict (talk) 22:34, July 28, 2011 (UTC)

...beats them being smaller Humans with pointy ears like in DAII, I didn't like they're look at first but now I love them, they actually look like a different race! 2.101.128.146 (talk) 23:07, July 28, 2011 (UTC)

Don't get me wrong, Zevran was my favorite character in origins and I adore him, I just had a bit of an shock to see him in the new art style is all. I get that life on the run isn't going to be easy. --Heulwen (talk) 10:06, July 29, 2011 (UTC)

I don't get the problem with the elves. I thought they looked a bit weird at first, but now they actually look like a separate race. Fenris...aah. Well, he makes elves look "right". The Keeper looked good too, and "right". My only question is why do all of them have green eyes? Zevran looked kind of messed up, but I assumed he looked that way because of the difference artstyle and engine, I assumed they made the characters looked their closest as they could using the engine. His biggest issue is that he looked older and more tired due probably to his near lack of eyebrows, which I don't get. At any rate, I enjoy the way the elves look, because they look DIFFERENT. They do look kind of Zelda-y though. Xelestial (talk) 15:13, July 29, 2011 (UTC)

I'm not really seeing the similarity to Hylians. The noses are the single biggest culprit for making the elves look less than appealing, and the only place I've seen noses like that before is in Avatar. Michael Largness (talk) 15:21, July 29, 2011 (UTC)

It's the eye shape I think, and the ears. http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/characters/images/zelda/zelda.jpg Xelestial (talk) 15:32, July 29, 2011 (UTC)
I stil don't see it. The ears are shorter and droopier in DA2, and the eyes don't match at all. The DA2 elves tend to have more rounded looking features as opposed to the streamlined style on that Zelda model. Fenris is the only one that comes close really. Michael Largness (talk) 15:40, July 29, 2011 (UTC)

Fenris is the only elf in DA2 that looks remotely realistic. Compared to the Origins elves they look downright ridiculous. --receyamell (talk) 23:34, July 29, 2011 (UTC)

Like someone already stated, it's better than them being short humans with pointed ears. My whole life I always imagined elves to look more like how they do in DA2 so the change never bothered me. Also, Zevran looking older works because he is in fact older than he was in origins. The same can be said for Alistair (I know people have been complaining about his new design so I figured I'd point that out). Jessica Sutter (talk) 14:36, July 30, 2011 (UTC)

There was nothing wrong with them looking like short humans with pointed ears... If anything they weren't, and still aren't, pointy enough! The long, straight elven ears that stick out through hair are the best ones, IMO. If I could ask for anything in the future, it would be that, and of course fixing their facial structure to make them attractive again. Michael Largness (talk) 15:40, July 30, 2011 (UTC)

That sounds pretty closed minded. They aren't your standards of attractive, so therefore they should be changed? The dwarves are a different race, and you can tell by their facial and body structure. So are the elves, and now you can tell by theirs as well. For the record, even with the seemingly odd (when compared to a human) nose structure, I found Fenris to be the most attractive character in the game. They had to do something to differentiate themselves from humans. I prefer the long ears too, but it's silly to think they should look like humans when they aren't human. Xelestial (talk) 15:46, July 30, 2011 (UTC)
Hang on a minute here. You're accusing me of being closed minded because I've voiced my opinion that I don't find them attractive. That is not even remotely fair. I did not at any stage say that this absolutely has to be done, only that I'd like it to be done. Michael Largness (talk) 15:52, July 30, 2011 (UTC)
There's no need to get upset or argue. I said it SOUNDS pretty closed minded, if I had the right of it. It sounded like you were saying that you would prefer to have their facial structure "fixed" to "make them attractive again" as if they are broken because they are not your standard of beauty. To me, that just sounds closed minded. Xelestial (talk) 16:41, July 30, 2011 (UTC)
There is a need to argue if you're unfairly accusing me of intolerance. I am very careful in the wording of my opinion based posts precisely because of situations like this. Surely you're familiar with the phrase "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." To me, their facial structure is broken, because I used to find Elves attractive in Origins, and now I don't. It's as simple as that. Michael Largness (talk) 16:47, July 30, 2011 (UTC)

I only notice Fenris being a little too thin for a warrior (who wields giant swords strapped to his back) Smf4297 (talk) 09:34, August 2, 2011 (UTC)

Two days ago my mom (my computer and especially videogame ignorant, aren't-DA-and-WoW-the-same-thing mom) walked into my room while I had the cutscene where you meet Fenris playing. Her immediate reaction was "wow, that is one attractive man." So clearly they got something right. The rest of the elves are in my opinion well done in that they're clearly a different species, though I do think Bioware a little cheap for imitating the Na'vi. With the exceptions of Fenris and Merrill I don't find them attractive, but then I feel the same about most of the human characters. The DA2 engine is just, in my opinion, not very suited to making attractive characters. I have serious trouble making Hawkes I find acceptable to look at too. Something about the basic facial structure they used, I think at least part of it is because the lower half of the face sticks out a bit too much, but I can't quite put my finger on what's making my aesthetic sense twitch. 195.240.236.190 (talk) 12:21, August 2, 2011 (UTC)

Haha, that's funny. Yes, Fenris makes many ladies happy, including older women and women with husbands and children. I've seen it many times. Fenris looks very manly in his face and at the same time has that brooding, intense thing that women can't resist. I would have to say I only find Fenris attractive, Merril is more "cute", and the Keeper looks nice enough. I would say I agree that most of the humans aren't very attractive either, and Anders is probably the best male besides a Hawke or two I have seen. Honestly, Varric is sexier than most any human. I can make some pretty attractive female Hawkes and Isabela is pretty, so I'd say the human males are just difficult to make really attractive. Fenris does not look like the other male elves, or if he did, I can say that I would be a larger fan of them in this game. Xelestial (talk) 18:37, August 2, 2011 (UTC)
