Personally, I prefer weapons (and armor) that don't look totally weird/ridiculous. Simple (and functional) is better than anything else. Not that artistic license doesn't have its place, but that's just my $0.02. That said I doubt the bows we've seen in the demo are a good representation of every bow in the game. The same as that flaming sword the Inquisitor has been seen using is probably not how all the swords look. : Exactly how I feel. I don't want "Magic BlueFlame SpikeyCool 1337Shadowsword of Exaborath (REFORGED (DRAGON TIT AUGMENTATION)) +1." I want a nice variety of modest, but unique, steel swords. I think they have purposefully only shown weapons that we have seen in the previous games (or they at least look similar). There are actually several bows that I've seen in the trailers that you may be referring to. There is a very plain bow that Sera has on her back during the scene where she is walking through the wheat/tall grass, it is actually the "basic longbow" from DA2, that is the bow your character equips if you unequip your weapon. There is another bow I've seen Sera use during the dragon fight which looks almost spiky, it seems very similar to (but nevertheless different from) "hoods message to the king" from the DA2 item pack. Noticeably lacking on the new bow are the two blocky portions that are on the DA2 bow, leading me to wonder if its a totally new weapon.

Finally there is the bow we see Leliana use in the scene in the castle where she is fighting and flipping around. That bow is the "antivan longbow" from DAO. The same bow model has actually shown up numerous times under different names both in DAO and DA2. Anyways I guess my point is that we should see plenty of new weapons, and that so far they shown us weapons we have seen previously, for the most part. I know just visually comparing them based on internet videos isnt the most scientific method, so anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. :Actually, I'm pretty sure that the bow Leliana is using is Marjolaine's Recurve which, yes is the antivan longbow model, but is Leliana's personal bow in Origins. I'm personally glad that they had Leliana keep this bow. Freakium (talk) 21:17, July 8, 2014 (UTC)

Forums: Index > Game DiscussionD.A.I.: lamest bow ever ?

i recently re-whatch a fews gameplay video on youtube and i cant help myself but be somewhat disapointed by how lame and ordinary the bow that we've seen so far are ( remember the ancestral heartwood bow that the warden can make in d.a.a. now "that" was a masterpeice from an artistic point of view or even the hooded message to the king found in d.a.2 rogue items pack dlc ) even though they have string now wich is awesome by the way i seriously hope that the bow that leliana and sera were fighting with were only place-holder for much more artisticly modelized bow to be found in the game so what do you think am i worrying for nothing or do you share my worry ? Really? You're worried about how one bow looked like? I'd put your worries to a rest as we're likely to get more bows in the game. It's nothing to dwell on :)Lazare326 09:36, July 7, 2014 (UTC)
