When DA:I starts, it goes the marching mages and templars screen. It then says click to continue. Doing so contacts the DA servers and then proceeds to the main menu. Since the only thing you can do at the intermediate screen is click, why did EA bother with it at all? Why not just go straight to the menu if there are no choices to be made?
