Character Creating is one of my favorite aspects of the game (as well as important I have delete games after being annoyed with a facial feature I came to dislike) and I noticed in DA1 that Preset 1 was the most attractive for females. But in DA2 I noticed how if you keep certain features the same tweaking where needed, the presets are very similar to each other (excluding the non editable default Hawke). And the biggest tweaking of jaw and cheeks (and nose/eyes to a degree) determine how good looking your Character is. This is based on research (mostly youtube and bioware threads) and without mods, making a good looking female Hawke.

Also forgive me I thought about adding to another existing Character creator thread but they are very old and no images.

So in a test I tried to make the exact same character with each of the preset . Using the same nose, eyes shape and color, make up/skin (which was next to non blush was the most intense for shadowing purposes), hair color/style, etc. tweaked as best as I could to look as the first.

Basic Jaw/Cheek ratios for all below is (mins being the extra left and max being the extreme right):

  • Cheekbone Depth: min
  • Cheekbone Width: min
  • Cheek Width: max
  • Cheekbone Height: middle variations
  • Chin Height: middle variations
  • Chin Depth: middle variations
  • Chin Width: middle variations
  • Jaw Width: mins

Forgive the same style it is what I am most use to and found it easier to mimic the usual look I give my character (may not be the best looking but I think a good base to start with making a good looking female Hawke). I found some preset facial features unforgivable to even tweaking to match the look I tried for (ie. Jaw width of 9th Preset I could not soften and was very square, 2nd preset had a very round small face, but over all you can get any preset to look like any other or really close (so if you have your heart set on a certain family look you could File:Bethany Carver Chart.jpg)).

But I noticed it is nearly impossible to make a mimic of the uneditable Hawke Preset with out a mod. But I still see certain characters that players have created who look very good but I cannot mimic since I don't know loosely what they started on. I have seen a very Morrigan-esk Hawke but yet to see any good or decent guidelines for appearances that isn't mods based. And I am terrible at making a decent looking guy.

So if anyone can give some images and appearance stats for both male and female characters (DA2 mostly but DA1 is fine too). Since I find the Bioware threads very long and not too many share appearance stats, just the images.
