::Depends what you mean. If you're saying we only start with one specialization, but can't get another later on, then you're wrong. The devs already confirmed that we'd have to earn our specs throughout the game. Every Inquisitor will have to earn them, so even after one Inquisitor earns one in your first playthrough, your second Inquisitor will have to earn it against in the second playthrough. They aren't permanently unlocked. They also confirmed that we will not learn our specs from companions like we did in Origins. It will probably be like the Arcane Warrior or Blood Mage, where we have to do something specific to earn it. This also tells me that we won't be starting with a spec since that wouldn't be "earning" it. Also because we never started with a spec in previous games. CONSOLE COMMANDS FTW!!! Actually I don't really have a plan but I hope I can import my inquisitor from a previous playthrough much like Mass Effect series then I'll do that--[[User:WardenMaster|WardenMaster]] ([[User talk:WardenMaster|talk]]) 01:44, November 7, 2014 (UTC)

Forums: Index > Game DiscussionAlright, let’s get serious!
Note: This topic has been unedited for 3451 days. It is considered archived - the discussion is over. Do not continue it unless it really needs a response.

So Inquisition is a week and five days away, or a week for some privileged elite (also two weeks and a day for others), and I think it's time we all got serious about this game! YEAH! Believe it!

The game is almost here! This is really going to happen! It's like we're on a rollercoaster going up the giant hill. The chain is clicking and the car is slowly moving to the apex. Let's pass the waiting time with a friendly discussion.

So, now that we have our serious face on (put it on now if you haven't already), I think we should discuss strategy.

We can't use healing magic, and we have a limited number of potions. We can set up camps as checkpoints and use them to rest and create more potions. However, this is not the serious way to do things. We need to be able to clear an entire area without resting! And we also need to do this on...

NIGHTMARE DIFFICULTY!!!

That's right! We get special achievements for clearing the game on Nightmare. So who's with me? Who else wants to do Nightmare on the first playthrough? Join today and be somebody!

Now then, let's talk strategy. My Inquisitor will be a mage who is not physically all that strong. So he will rely on long range attacks that do massive damage.

He might also be a necromancer. I figure that way he can reanimate the corpses of fallen foes and turn them against the enemy. If not necro, then Rift Mage, which I assume will deal in buffs and debuffs.

Next, I will also have two other long range companions, and one will always be a rogue to detect and disarm traps. The other will probably always be a mage to help with the long range nukes.

Finally, I will have Cassandra as the lead tank to play defense and root. She will take point and simply hold the front so enemies don't get through. She can also fight along side the reanimated corpses if needed, which would play well into her backstory of being Nevarran.

This way my main damage dealers stay safe, and any potions can be saved for Cassandra, meaning she can have all 10 if needed. She can also be the focus of defense buffs. I will also make Cass a Templar so she can withstand hostile magic attacks.

If I switch the character out, and have to leave Cass behind for some reason, then I will have to see about being trickier. Will have to research Tempest, and I will probably have my other three companions gang up on each enemy one at a time while my mage does crowd control.

What are some strategies you're thinking of, and will you state here and now for all the world to see that you will take on Nightmare for your first playthrough? Cuz I am! Believe it! (talk) 20:57, November 6, 2014 (UTC)

I don't think that you can "give" your companions specializations like in origins, but on the other hand am I pretty sure that she actually starts with the specialization. My strategies, I must admit, involves a lot of running, take a warrior: use the taunt ability (or something akin) to draw the enemies focus and then run around in circles while my allies attack the enemies (I used it this very day by first drawing Uldreds attention while let my allies deal with all the other abominations and then attack him). To my defense I will point out that I often play a "no potions and no dying" gameplay.Caspoi (talk) 23:54, November 6, 2014 (UTC)
