Going to Orlais sounds appealing at first - certainly if I were ''genuinely'' in the position of the Warden, I would definately be tempted to do so. It does, however, bring with it multiple problems. The first is the human suffering in Ferelden, which I would find heard to justify to myself. Second and perhaps more important is the fact that without you there to organise the opposition to Loghain, he would consolidate the country behind his leadership and - blight or no blight - he would fight any Wardens coming from Orlais (or anywhere outside Ferelden) as an invading army. ''Because'' the Warden stays in Ferelden, the Fereldan civil war ends with relatively little bloodshed. Had the Warden left, the result would have been an all out Warden-Fereldan War, possibly even an Orlesian-Fereldan War if and when the Orlesians aid the Wardens. As a final note, while looking at the game from the outside we might feel resentment towards the country of Ferelden, remember that several of the Origins are Fereldan. Would you feel as ready to abandon your real-life country in a similar situation? -- [[User:Gissur the Sailor|Gissur the Sailor]] ([[User talk:Gissur the Sailor|talk]]) 17:54, October 16, 2012 (UTC)

Forums: Index > Lore DiscussionAfter surviving Ostagar, as the Grey Warden where would go next and how would you stop the Blight?

After Loghain's betrayal and the massacre at Ostagar, if you were one of the surviving Grey Wardens in a country that hated you based on the rumours and lies and slander being spread about you, how would you go about ending the Blight? On this thread I'm allowing for a more open-ended answer above and beyond becoming the Hero Of Ferelden, so feel free to be creative! or if becoming the Hero Of Ferelden is how you would end the Blight, thats perfectly fine too.

Especially after the betrayal at Ostagar though, I would've abandoned Ferelden to its fate, and gone west to join the Wardens of Orlais. I just feel like Ferelden wouldn't deserve my help, not after accusing me of kingslaying and slandering the name Grey Warden. Cailan and by extension the rest of Ferelden, expected too much from the Wardens, and like I like most of the Grey Wardens at Ostagar, was a new recruit fresh out of the Joining. Is it really a surprise that the Wardens 'failed spectacularly' as Loghain put it? Fereldens had no right to be disappointed because their expectation was outrageous to begin with. Just wasn't fair, in fact it was dishonorable and humiliating. I was so mad at Fereldan arrogance and how bloated with pride they were that they followed Loghain, a conceited relic of another time who looked to past victories for answers to the current problem. Ferelden wasn't even worth saving in my opinion, not for the amount of crap that the Warden had put up with. It wouldn't even have been neglecting duty, cause the Blight would've raged on and other chances to slay the Archdemon may have arisen for the Warden in places more supportive of the Grey Wardens. --JordanHawker (talk) 20:44, October 15, 2012 (UTC) JordanHawker

I also would have probably legged it for the border, or tried to sneak past the darkspawn and explore south of the Korcari Wilds, because I can't resist unexplored places. What chance do a pair of rookies have against the entire country, and a horde of evil monsters led by a dragon? I'd go to Lothering still, maybe convince Leliana to come with me (I'd try to convince Sten too, but he'd refuse). Other than that, it'd be me and Alistair on the run from everyone (and maybe Morrigan too). Not exactly ideal, but it'd be a laugh. Either that or we'd go to Denerim or Gwaren (any city with a port) in disguises and get on a ship and sail away, maybe to Weisshaupt to tell the Wardens that Ferelden is lost to the darkspawn. It would've been interesting too to meet Carver and Aveline at Ostagar, and Bethany and Leandra in Lothering. --JordanHawker (talk) 21:12, October 15, 2012 (UTC) JordanHawker

So, you created a thread entirely to spite me, and then vandalize the page I created by removing not only your posts, but mine as well? Yeah, real mature. Hitokiri Akins (talk) 23:21, October 15, 2012 (UTC)

Hitokiri, After reading the paragraph below your question in which you clarified the nature of the thread, I removed my comments. I admit it was entitled of me to delete yours as well, but I felt they no longer held any relevence because my comments were gone. In that regard I wronged you, and so do apologize. I created a new thread to establish a new question, wherein my comment could fit better. --JordanHawker (talk) 00:43, October 16, 2012 (UTC) JordanHawker

Well, I notified one of the administrators about what you did, and reverted the changes.
However, to not hijack your thread, I will add where I'd go after Ostagar; I would continue on to Lothering with Alistair and Morrigan, picking up the Mabari I saved at Ostagar, pick up Leliana and Sten, and continue on to follow the game's plot and become the Hero of Ferelden and stop the Blight. After all, it can be done, as the Darkspawn Chronicles shows. Alistair, Morrigan, Leliana and dog manage to make it to the Archdemon, and were only killed because of the actions of the player controlled Hurlock Vanguard. And the game shows that it can be done by the player character too; we can stop the Blight without the aid of the other nations or Grey Wardens. Hitokiri Akins (talk) 02:59, October 16, 2012 (UTC)

I would've left Fereldan. I got conscripted against my will and didn't want the burden of being a Grey Warden.--R0B45 (talk) 10:27, October 16, 2012 (UTC)
