I bought a laptop 890 euros three years ago. It runs well, DA2 runs better than Origins :D. The first limit is graphics driver, so remember to update it. Still, I can't use 1200x800 video screen with games. I usually use 800x600 or 1080x760 (760 or something i can't remember). If you plan to play games with laptop, invest 1450$ to your laptop.

One euro is 1,488 dollars currently.--[[Special:Contributions/87.100.252.126|87.100.252.126]] ([]) 18:38, July 1, 2011 (UTC)

I wonder if IGN's "custom Wii 2" that they built for showing the possibility of the Wii U's graphic capabilities would be powerful enough for the likes of the Dragon Age games? ([[User:VicGeorge2K9|VicGeorge2K9]] ([]) 15:17, July 6, 2011 (UTC))

Well, I'd like to play DA:O on PC because everyone says it is pretty much better in every way possible. It's easier to be tactical, frame rate is faster, it's modifiable, etc. But here is the big kicker- I need a new computer to do so. I have four hard drives (one for games, mind you) and I am planning to play all my games on a new laptop. Here is what I'm asking of you guys-

 • What labtop is up to date enough to run all my games? [DA:O, Mass Effect, Team fortress 2, Morrowind]
 • Is it available under $125? (an eBay link will work)

Thanks for helping, or at least for considering it! Soon enough I'll be posting more about the game itself than about tech stuff.--71.200.129.183 (talk) 02:32, June 23, 2011 (UTC)

That was me above.--XeroSnake (talk) 02:32, June 23, 2011 (UTC)

Dude, a LAPTOP that can run ME under $125? Highly doubtful. You're looking at a $500 investment. Go with a desktop, and for the same price, you can actually get a setup decent enough to run Crysis on medium (lol here's hoping).

Just my opinion here. Quirkynature (talk) 03:01, June 23, 2011 (UTC)

I doubt it's possible. I spent over $100 on my video card alone. However, the difference between the low and high graphics settings is dramatic. Not just in the look, but also in gameplay. Combat is faster and many of the quirks disappear (like getting stuck on invisible objects).

Personally, I prefer desktops. More bang for the buck and easier to upgrade. Best Buy usually has some good package deals, but you'd need to upgrade the video card. Dcinroc (talk) 09:38, June 23, 2011 (UTC)

Looks like I was wishing for more than I could get, Eh?--71.200.129.183 (talk) 15:38, June 23, 2011 (UTC)

Yeah I was thinking, sure you don't mean $1250? :P Course I'm talking in Aussie dollars, I don't know if computer stuff is much different in price over in the US etc I'm guessing it would though. S13Kuro (talk) 03:17, June 24, 2011 (UTC)

Looks like you're going to have to build a computer in order to play Origins with the same quality and speed as a game console, which doesn't come cheap unless you know what you're looking for and how to get it. My Xbox 360 can run DA2 faster than my new computer can do the same. (VicGeorge2K9 (talk) 23:55, June 30, 2011 (UTC))

DA2 isn't much of a resource hog - console ports/compatibles cannot be by default. My four year old Athlon64 X2 DC 3600+/4G RAM/ATI Radeon X1950Pro ran both DAs just fine (DA2 on medium graphic, but that's because I'm on XP and thus on DirectX 9). Dorquemada (talk) 07:26, July 1, 2011 (UTC)

$350 is running DA:O with maxed-out JBTextures perfectly for me. 4+ RAM, Dual Core, and the equivalent of a $60 video card (though some underclocking may be needed for Ostagar) is a good minimum. DirectX 11 with DA2 is a buggy joke; just download better textures off the Nexus. Futonrevoltion (talk) 08:17, July 1, 2011 (UTC)
